Publisher's Summary

Stephen King's "gem of a story" (Chicago Tribune) about a child with extraordinary psychic powers who is on the run from the government. A number-one national best seller.

Andy McGee and Vicky Tomlinson participated in a drug experiment run by a veiled government agency known as The Shop. One year later, they marry. Two years later, their little girl, Charlie, sets her teddy bear on fire by simply staring at it.

Now that Charlie is eight, she doesn't start fires anymore. Her parents have taught her to control her pyrokinesis, the ability to set anything - toys, clothes, even people - aflame. But The Shop knows about and wants this pigtailed "ultimate weapon". Shop agents set out to hunt down Charlie and her father in a ruthless chase that traverses the streets of New York and the backwoods of Vermont.

"Terrifying and gripping" (The Miami Herald) Firestarter is chilling proof that "Stephen King is superb" (Time).

Its a Gem !

What a great story.. I absolutely was not expecting this book to be this friggin GOOD !

I turned it on at 6:30 am on my way to the shop (wink wink) and listened for 14 hours straight.. I just wish it was longer. Seemed like there were no slow parts it just moves along at a good pace.. One of a kind.

Buy it !!!!!!

Wow just wow

Stephen King has an odd way of making you so involved and become the characters in his books. Once this book finally climaxed, I was excited, shocked, sad, and confused. Definitely a roller coaster and I highly recommend it.

Grest Story horrible production.

My issues aren't with the story itself. There abrupt stops that made me check and see if audible suddenly closed. Literally in the middle of words which makes me wonder if I missed some of the story.

Bad editing

Great book. Editing is horrible. Constantly cutting off words and makes you question if you're hearing the entire book. This happened on more than 2 dozen occasions.

Great story, choppy editing

Story was fine, twists and turns, character development, etc

However, audio editing had some abrupt transitions and some phrases with lost end bits. You don’t lose any words but less polished.

Great narration, but not the best audio mixing

Dennis Boutsikaris is a great narrator, but there are distinct changes in the audio quality at certain points in the book, which I can only attribute to points where disparate audio files were strung together. The change in the quality of his voice is not as off-putting as the propensity for the trailing few words in each audio "block" to be truncated.

Love Dennis!!

I really enjoyed this book and I especially loved Dennjs Boutsikaris as the narrator. I have listened to home before and he is by far my favorite!

Poor Production

Any additional comments?

The end of sentences are clipped off abruptly. I had to stop listening about half way into the book. This happens only to SK books I purchase. The Long Walk, Firestarter and IT have this issue. SK and audible are not giving these these books away and the problem has been reported many times from customers. When will it be fixed?

great book, bad production

Stephen King is, as always, an adept storyteller. unfortunately, the production of this audiobook leaves much to be desired. it makes me want to read the physical book myself to make sure I didn't miss anything.
