Amazing Listen!

I was brought up on audio dramas and westerns, therefore, I was thrilled to listen to this audiobook which has captured both genres seamlessly. Jason Huza has penned a wonderfully funny and poignant novel about the true meaning of friendship through two men who would never normally interact on account of their vast differences, but, while in the mud and grit of the Wild West, are thrown together and learn that in order to survive it only takes a lot of luck, understanding, and some good mustache wax. I found myself laughing out loud over and over again from the situational comedy and dialogue and it’s in the dialogue where Jason Huza truly excels as a writer. Each character was incredibly specific and Jeremiah James translates these characters from the page to flesh and blood superbly. I truly felt as if I was listening to an audio play as each character had his own clear voice; even women and a six year old boy were convincing and through my listen I began to forget that it was one person voicing hundreds of characters. I just fell into the action of the story.

It is definitely a testament to both the writing and acting that as the book ended I found I missed this fantastically flawed band of misfits. I’d love to hear more of “Purple” and Traxton Rhodes, but even if their story ends with this book, I’m satisfied and extremely happy that I spent 14 hours with them on their journey. I hope that Jason Huza and Jeremiah James work together on another audiobook in the future. Their partnership seems to be a natural and enjoyable pairing. I highly recommend anyone to enjoy it themselves.

What an amazing and enjoyable surprise!!! I laughed out loud!!!!!!

This book was nothing but a pleasant surprise! Author Jason Huza does a twist on a classic western and comes up with a hysterically witty story based around 2 reluctant friends and a cast of interesting characters. I found myself laughing out loud as I listened to this book. This was only heightened by the incredible reader, Jeremiah James. James took on separate voices and accents for dozens of characters which only added another level of humor and enjoyment. This was an absolute joy to listen to and I hope there will be another installment of Delirium Tremens read by James in the very near future!!

Lovely story, amazing performance!

Delirium Tremens is a book that really surprised me. In the beginning, it appears to be a typical saloon style western, making the reader think it intends on remaining surface level emotionally but action packed and thrilling. However, the story and relationships develop in a way that is honest and exciting, and all together unexpected; like something out of a Jane Austen novel. But don’t expect the adventure to dull either.

The performance by the reader, Jeremiah James, is also surprising! He moves in and out of all the different characters like they had been living inside him forever - and there are quite a few! Each voice is unique and specific, which allows your ear to relax, knowing you will always be aware of who is speaking, since the book bounces between different narrators and has a lot of moving parts. I grew found of each character and when it was over, began to miss the sound of their voices, like missing old friends.

Overall, the story is fun and surprisingly touching, and I am excited to read more by this author and hear more by this reader!

THIS BOOK IS SO ENTERTAINING!!!

The title does not do this book justice. I was so thoroughly entertained by this book. It had me laughing out loud throughout. The combination of Jeremiah James' narration and the creativity of the book have produced an audiobook that felt like I was listening to a movie. Each character was more engaging than the next. And the story in the end was so touching. I can't say enough good things about it. I can't wait for the next installment of these two unlikely friends.

Entertaining and hilarious!!

This book was hilarious, clever, and kept me hooked! The combination of the creativity of Jason and Jeremiah made the book that much better. If Jeremiah James can narrate every audiobook that would be great! I hope there is a sequel in the works! I’d like these to keep coming!!
