Publisher's Summary

From best-selling authors William W. Johnstone and J.A. Johnstone comes a blazing new saga of the MacAllisters. One family, forging a destiny. One legacy, sworn to justice. One name, branded in the heart of America....

The Scottish Highlands, 1885. Two men, brandishing knives, attack a young woman outside a pub. Duff MacAllister steps in and saves her - killing one of the assailants. Big mistake. The attacker was the sheriff's son, and now MacAllister is marked for death. His only hope: America. Here, in the sprawling land of dreams, Duff hopes to start a new life with his American cousins. Unfortunately, the sheriff's deputies are tracking him down - with nine of the deadliest cutthroats money can buy. Blazing a trail of blood and bullets all the way to the Rockies, Duff has to kill his enemies one by one - or die trying. But this time, Duff is not alone. He has a new ally by his side. A living legend of frontier justice. The gunslinger known as Falcon MacAllister....

Writing style?

The style of writing was very poor and annoying with constant repetition of “he said” and other unnecessary repeats of words. The thesaurus would help solve this problem.
The history lessons were too apparent in this narrative making it feel somewhere between we know something we just have to tell you and your too dumb to know. I have never before posted a bad review but honestly without the Scott’s accents it would have been the biggest pain ever to labor thru this! If William W. andJ.A. Johnstone are both 8 yr old boys then I apologize and take it all back.

Terrible

This book was terrible from start to finish. Poorly written and poorly performed! Disappointed that Audible would even offer it.

Western not

This not much of a western, it’s more about Scots and this ridiculous family who seems to have nothing but famous friendly people and all heroes

The narration/performance was excellent. Great twist on a std western. I have listened to several of Johnstone's books and they are always fun.

Poor elocution by narrator

Story is good, but, the reader was awful. He did good on Scottish accent, and read like a first grade teacher .
