Publisher's Summary

NAACP nominee and USA Today best-selling author Beverly Jenkins continues her beloved Blessings series with a heartwarming novel about what really makes a family.

There's never a dull day in Henry Adams, Kansas.

Tamar July has never had a great relationship with certain members of her family. In fact, she'd characterize it as a "hate/hate relationship." But when her cousin calls her with the news that she's dying and wants Tamar to plan the funeral, she's shocked but is willing to drop everything for her.

After a horrendous storm, Gemma finds a young boy and his little sister walking on the side of the road. She takes them in, and quickly falls in love with the orphaned siblings. But when Gemma contacts Social Services to try to become their foster mother, she's told a white woman cannot foster African-American children.

In the midst of these trials, Jack and Rocky are trying to plan their wedding. The entire town comes together to lend a helping hand.

Though the residents of Henry Adams face seemingly insurmountable obstacles, each of them will discover that family comes in many forms, especially during the most trying of times.

    "Another Beverly Jenkins winner"

The storylines, dialogue and character profiles are rich as usual. This installment in the Blessings series has twists galore! Won't spoil it here but know my reactions reminded me of my grandmother's to what many called the "stories" on television. I admit it, I'm emotionally involved. The writing provides wonderful depictions of what folks do at their human worst and what most of us hope we would do at our best. As the author reminded us in this installment, "be kind over being right," is the goal. Best of all is that she filled in some details about the characters from the historical novels. Thanks Ms. Jenkins!

"The old Ms. Jenkins is back!"

This is one of the best in the series..previous books have not taken the time to update more than one character... Not here, more like a screenplay.. I am definitely moving to Henry Adams!

    "Didn't like the reader"

I'm use to the others readers Taylor or Stanton. She missed pronounce some of the names and she gave them less class is the only way I can put it. I love the story but not the reader .is that why it was so cheap

"Story is awesome- The Narrator not so much"

The Blessing Novels are always good!! I enjoy reading the books and catching up with the people in town. It's like visiting family who live out of town.
The Narrator was not good. Her voice for the men was really deep, unbelievable, and a distracting. The women voices were not much better.

    "Bernadine"

I think so many of us (successful single women) can relate to so many aspects of Bernadine's life (especially by the end). Wow. Just SMH.

"I want this to come to life on the small screen!"

I want to move to Henry Adams. I love this series. I cannot wait for the next book to find out what happens next.

I would love to see this book series become a tv series. Lifetime or the Hallmark channel what are you waiting for? snap this up already.
For the record the reader did a good job.
Thank you Beverley Jenkins for creating a place that I want to live. in the middle of Kansas. Folks have a lot to learn about love, community, history. and heritage from the folks from Henry Adams.
Can't wait for the next visit.

    "Disappointed!!"

I won't spoil it for anyone, but I am, was an avid fan of the Blessing Series, I have everyone, but this one's shocking end made me want to cry!! Why did you have to disrupt the flow, took all the joy out of everything, doubt if I'll ever purchase another as a matter of fact, I'm returning this one, it destroyed the beauty of all the others for me! And the different narrator was off putting! Her various voices didn't match the characters I'd grown to know thru the dynamic performance of Ms. Taylor. Often I had to backup and turn up the volume, some were barely audible! It was difficult to listen to.

    "Chasing Down a Dream"

A winner! I'm so disappointed with the ending. I was surprised when Bernadine and Mal's relationship changed. I feel like I missed something while reading this book, consequently I'll reread the story.
