I couldn't stop listening

Where does A Winter Dream rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I may have just found a new favorite author. This is the first book I have real written by Evans. I plan to read all his others.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Winter Dream?

This book is a modern story of a popular Bible story.

Which scene was your favorite?

The letter that the father wrote to his son, Joseph, was very meaningful to me.

Great contemporary reselling of the Joseph story!

A WINTER DREAM is a modern parable based on the Biblical story of Joseph and his family. In this story, Joseph's father is a Vietnam war hero who now runs a very successful advertising agency in Colorado.

When Joseph comes up with a winning slogan for a bank campaign, his father's congratulations and pride lead him to pass on his Vietnam's bomber jacket to Joseph rather than the eldest son. This becomes the last straw for his older brothers.

This creative re telling continues, with the addition of an intriguing love interest who further complicates Joseph's life. As in the Biblical story, love, loyalty and forgiveness are the basis of life changing events for everyone. Excellently repurposed story for today's readers!!

Reading Mr. Evans Books is a Holiday Tradition

Each holiday I look forward to reading one of Mr. Evans novels. This year's is a retelling of Joseph being sold in to Egypt. While some of the small details seemed to be a bit of a reach, the overall integrity of the story holds up. I found myself very touched by the treatment of the relationship between the main character and his beloved Father. I had never thought of this story from the point-of-view of Jacob -- and reading this book sent me right back to the original text in The Old Testament. I hope this little holiday tradition continues long into the future.

A good interpretation of a biblical story

Well written and performed. The writer is very creative in being able to take a classic bible story and relate it to present day. I highly recommend it.

Another 5 Star book from Mr. Evans!

If you could sum up A Winter Dream in three words, what would they be?

Pulitzer Price Winner!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Joseph, he was a true Christian in every since of the word.

Which character – as performed by Fred Berman – was your favorite?

Joseph, my heart went out to him through his trials and tribulations. I loved it when his siblings had to eat their words.

If you could take any character from A Winter Dream out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Joseph, I would want to hear him speak. Maybe even see if he had a dream of me and my future. He was such a good person.

Any additional comments?

Richard Paul Evans writes the best books! I own everyone of his books, even the children's books and I don't have any children. They are that good. Thank you for writing such heart felt books. Some day I would like to meet him.

Fantastic Story

What made the experience of listening to A Winter Dream the most enjoyable?

I was drawn to the fact that this story was based on a biblical story.

What other book might you compare A Winter Dream to and why?

I don't compare books to one another because I like to enjoy each one and the gifts it bestows.

What about Fred Berman’s performance did you like?

Great performance!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, this was a great story.

Any additional comments?

My only suggestion would be that it is not necessary to begin the narrative by explaining the story of Joseph from the Bible. Giving out that information at the beginning removes the anticipation of the reader since we already know how it will end.

Excellent Listen.

What made the experience of listening to A Winter Dream the most enjoyable?

Love - tolerance - wisdom!

What other book might you compare A Winter Dream to and why?

Winter Garden by Kristen Hannah

Have you listened to any of Fred Berman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not that I can remember.

If you could take any character from A Winter Dream out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Probably each of them at different times - only because I feel everyone at one time or another finds themselves experiencing similar situations ( falling on either side.)
