Publisher's Summary

Fate wasn't supposed to have plans for me. I'm an outcast, a loner. The boy named for death who never quite started to live. But then, Poe came back - the girl I once kissed in a thorn-covered chapel in the woods.

She brought back memories long buried, and I could no more resist her than I could pry out my own heart. She brought up secrets and set rituals into motion. She brought me to the man who owns Thornchapel, Auden Guest. And then, she found the bones.

The only thing Auden and I can agree on is Proserpina Markham, and she wants us to find a way to be together - all three of us. But the past casts a long shadow. Eight years ago, I did something terrible to Auden. He hurt me back the only way he knew how. And so here we are. Our hatred seasoned with pain and my loneliness spiked with longing.

If Auden wants to earn her as his submissive, then he has to earn me, as well. That was the promise he made. But with the carnal revel of Beltane fast approaching, it's becoming clear that Thornchapel's secrets are much deeper and older than any of us could have ever guessed. They're making us complicit. And they will have a cost.

Because, no matter how bright and merry a feast of sparks may be, it's always followed by ashes. And darkness.

Feast of Sparks is book two in the Thornchapel series.

My ears BLESSED again with Zachary’s voice!

Omg, this man, Zachary Webber, drives me insane with his performance and his dirty words. Can I pretend I haven’t ever listened to this to listen again unaware of anything. I read this story and couldn’t wait for the audio and I’m glad is finally out now. The combination of Sierra’s writing and the performance has me wanting them to adopt me. I sighed so much. Top notch for sure.

✨✨✨⭐️ I found a way to suffer through slowing down the females parts x.75

Sara Ormenyi delivery was all wrong for this book sadly as it was in the in the first book she narrated- but I found a way to get past her too swift cadence, oddly upbeat at the wrong times, when the tone was more severe and by slowing down the speed to x.75 it allows me to enjoy her again. Zachary is perfect at regular speed and is fantastic in this role, he’s playing multiple parts and doing them justice. Love Sierra Simones writing and her poetic descriptions, lyrical prose, emotional and moving character study of this group of friends experiences so much. Sexy read, as expected with a priest involved...lol. Hopefully the narration won’t cause you issues but try my slow method - playback speed. I need to go back and listen to the first one as it’s been so long ago now and I can’t remember anything that happened. Wish they would release these closer together. Enjoy✨✨✨⭐️.

Mysterious and Oh So Hot!

I don’t even have words to talk about this book! I was left completely speechless after reading Feast of Sparks. This story is everything mysterious, magical, brooding, haunting and beautiful. But it is also erotic, sensual, kinky and SO HOT. It blends mystery, rituals, and history in a swirl of magic and emotion that just pulled me right into the story from the start and left me floundering at the end wondering how I will survive as I wait impatiently for more of this story.

she did it again!

there are few authors that can weave a story together like Sierra Simone. and few like Zachary Webber that can bring the story to life. Im just as involved in this series as I've been in her other work. I felt that ending coming as we inched near bit to hear I blew my mind!! well done!!

Not for me

I hate to do this because I know Sierra Simone is a master of her craft, but this series just doesn’t seem to be for me. There’s a lot going on with the rituals and mystery and six people navigating a poly relationship. Once again, I found myself only caring about the mysteries of Thornchapel that we only got breadcrumbs of. Sadly, I didn’t feel the need to continue the series after this book.

Narration: We added a narrator for the multiple POVs in this book and Zachary Webber is the absolute best to listen to.

Just Gorgeous (and too literary for the genera)

The ending is deeply polarizing, so if you're easily put off, don't bother, but if you enjoy a true surprise ending and aren't easily squicked, this book goes places other series shy away from. It reads much more like literary fiction than romance/ erotica, so buckle up for a lot of beautifully felt feelings and musings on religion (and very little plot).

🔥🔥🔥

This was so hot!! I liked the story between Saint and Auden more, since the first book hints at a history. This, explains their past and explores their present.

questionable ending

I can't say I loved it or hated it. I'm not sure if I will continue with this story. this is the first set of books I read from this author and I'm not wowed she get really repetitive and some of the characters are juvenile.

Not done with the author but...

From the afterward in Door of Bruises, this is obviously a passion project for the author who, even she, admits this was a derailing from her regular writing. I had a lot of hope for this series - so much diversity, a plus size love interest, all the bisexual rep, and a loving polyamorous group. It was so unique and I was here for it. And then I got spoiled for book two and all the things I loved just got covered with a sense of "ewww." The choice of that plot turn ruined the whole thing and I skimmed so much of this book that it just fell apart without all the erotic scenes.

Because I had the physical copies for the third and final books, I jumped into them hoping that Poe, Auden, and Saint would disappear leaving us with my favorites - Delphine and Rebecca, and the often overlooked Beckett. But sadly the threesome are still a huge part so I'm still skimming until the very end of Door of Bruises to see how this whole mess ended. And yes, things got even weirder. I will sadly not be keeping this series and overall, it gets a 3-stars just for that excellent start.

better than book 1 but still so so

A lot more sexy times than in book 1 so that was good. Less Sara Ormenyi narrating so that was good. Just as boring as book 1 regarding all the Thornchapel ritual stuff. But the good relationship stuff was not worth all the bad everything else. it would be easier to skim with the book vs the audio. not sure if I want to continue or not.

spoilerish -
I'm not a fan of the ending (as many reviews mention) as it's not my thing but you could figure out that was the direction the author was going and I can easily pretend it didn't happen.

I was told I could listen to this book as a stand-alone. Although yes, I was able to still eventually figure out what was happening. I feel like it might have been helpful and less confusing if I had listened to the book prior to this one. Also feel like there was a lot I felt disconnected to being I don’t understand the full scope of some of the relationships.
That being said, this was still a crazy ride of a story and definitely want to go back and listen to book one and then the rest of the series.
Narrative was good!

Yep... Dark and Dirty...

This book just took everything to the next level and I must admit there were a few chapters where I had an "O.M.G!!" moment.... But always in a good way!!
You know you've read a good book when you feel just as wronged as the character you were rooting for! I'm really looking forward to the next book to see how all this works out. At the moment my heart needs a minute to recover!
PS I really wasn't expecting what happened in chapter 15... That was a real "Didn't see that cummin" moment! ;)

Perfect narration... Though the word "arse" from a non Brit just sounds odd! LOL

Epic

This series just keeps getting better and this book was amazing. There is always an element of excitement and intrigue starting a new Sierra novel. So far she has always defied my expectations and I’m excited to continue reading her novels.
