Publisher's summary

A totally gripping and heart-stopping serial-killer thriller

Eeeny meeny, miney, moe. Who lives, who dies, only I know.

When the body of a doctor is discovered brutally murdered in local woodland, Detective Kim Stone is shocked to discover the victim is Gordon Cordell - a man linked to a previous case she worked on involving the death of a young schoolgirl. Gordon has a chequered past, but who would want him dead?

As the investigation gets underway, Gordon’s son is involved in a horrific car crash which leaves him fighting for his life. Kim's sure this was no accident.

Then the body of a woman is found dead in suspicious circumstances and Kim makes a disturbing link between the victims and Russells Hall Hospital. The same hospital where Gordon worked.

With Kim and her team still grieving the loss of one of their own, they’re at their weakest and facing one of the most dangerous serial killers they’ve ever encountered. Everything is on the line. Can Kim keep her squad together and find the killer before he claims his next victim?

The killer is picking off his victims at a terrifying pace, and he’s not finished yet.

From multimillion number-one best seller Angela Marsons comes another absolutely nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat crime thriller.

Another good story

I’m glad that we were able to go they the grieving process with the team. Grief manifests several ways and this was really hard to read. This was a good story and I really liked it.

Tense, Tragic, Thrilling British Police Tale

This series gets better with each book. Some reviewers complained that the lead character had turned into a raging harpie in this outing, having suffered a terrible loss in the last book. I disagree. I think the narrator over-emphasizes bitchy voice tones when she voices Kim. At any rate, the characters on the police team all have to deal with personal grief and guilt as they try to identify and stop a particularly awful serial killer. The author spins two vexing mysteries into this book, and the theme of family echoes through each chapter. Can they catch the killer and can they solve a second mystery that has everyone blinded at the same time, while trying to overcome their team's precarious emotional dynamics? Highly recommend. I listened to the book twice, back to back, to make certain I'd caught all the twists and turns. Superb.

Stretching Reality

I read the first 9 Kim Stone books in 3 weeks time. While book 8, about the private school culture, is my favorite, I find this book just too much. Too much what? Presenting Kim as an angry, out of control, rude and obnoxious bitch, instead of a professional police officer. The grieving for their downed colleague is over the top, disrupting and hard to read. While some in the series do get out of bounds and confusing in the change-over between cases, this one was like a bowl of spaghetti. At first, I thought each book was an improvement on the last, but now I'm not so sure. I will read #10 & 11 to find out.

OMG May Be the Best One Yet!

I absolutely could not wait to start this book after finishing the last one and being so shocked at something that happened at the end of that one. No spoilers but what a wide range of emotions that this author makes the reader feel as they see these characters change and evolve. And of course the crimes are always so intriguing with something always happening to surprise and keep me in a state of suspense. I was actually brought to tears to see Kim experiencing an emotional crisis in the latter part of this book, even more so than the gut wrenching event from the last novel. I think my favorite part of these books is how you get just as involved in the characters and their relationships as you do the mystery that the team is working so hard to solve! HIGHLY RECOMMEND but please read in the order they were written!

Another good one!

I love this whole series. I haven't found one book written by Angela Marsons that hasn't gripped me. This one was a bit emotional because of the tragic events in the previous book. That, in no way, took away from the gripping search for a killer. I can't wait for the next book!!!!
