Critic Reviews

"Plot twists aplenty raise the stakes." (People Magazine)

"Narrator Kate Burton rises to the challenge of voicing both the male and female protagonists with ease. There's a large cast of characters of both genders and across generations, and Burton's smooth portrayals ensure that they're all easy to distinguish, even during the fast-moving dialogue. Her narration of the elderly Italian-American characters sounds authentic and helps to conjure up the warm and supportive atmosphere of a busy West Philly community." (AudioFile

Engrossing

I have followed this series and the Rosato and Associate series from the beginning. The first series was about Bennie Rosato. Mary DiNunzio, Judy Carrier and Anne Murphy were hired later on; then Mary and Bennie became partners. Lately the books featured Mary, but in this book Scottoline features almost equally DiNunzio and Rosato.

Mary’s clients come primarily from South Philly amongst the Italian population and are small businesses and individuals. Bennie primarily has corporations as her clients and is mostly a constitutional lawyer. Simon Pensiara, who Mary has known all her life, comes in to hire Mary with his father, the other Tony and Mary’s father. Simon was fired from his job because his daughter needed a bone marrow transplant for leukemia. The company is self-insured and the child’s illness is costing too much. Bennie informs Mary she cannot take the case because Bennie represents the parent corporation of Simon’s company. It is a conflict of interest. Mary says she has to take the case or lose her local clients. Then Simon is accused of murdering his prior boss. Bennie and Mary join together to solve the murder. But will this be the end of the Rosato and DiNunzio law firm?

The book is well written and provides insights into the workings of a law firm. The plot twists and turns as the suspense continuously builds. The ending of the book is a surprise. The interaction between Bennie and Mary brings up issues of the nature of partnerships, loyalty and individual responsibilities. The book provides entertainment but also some interpersonal relationship issues to think about.

The book is almost nine hours long. Kate Burton does an excellent job narrating the book. Burton has narrated many of the books in both series. I enjoy listening to Burton’s great alto voice. Burton is an actress and award-winning audiobook narrator. Burton is the daughter of Richard Burton.

Marvelous legal thriller by Lisa Scottoline!

Exposed in Book 5 in the Rosato & DiNunzio legal thriller series by Lisa Scottoline. As usual for this series Exposed has a great plot and wonderful characters that have been fleshed out to the point they seem almost family. My favorite fictional genres are legal and espionage thrillers. Lisa Scottoline is among the elite of legal thriller authors. The publisher's summary for this novel sets up the plot perfectly without giving the plot away. Kate Burton does a great job of narration.

Exposed and the entire Rosato & DiNunzio series have my highest possible recommendation. The next novel in the series, titled Feared, is scheduled for release in audio format in August of this year, The books in the series are standalone, but are best read in order released.

Maybe the best yet...

I admit it, I’m a legal thriller lover. This book was great for anyone who has followed the series this far. It brought so much out in the characters. Please listen to (or read) some of the earlier books in the series to fully appreciate how this book brings it all together in a wonderful way. Five stars all
the way around!

Well worth the wait! Best book in series.

I have been a fan of this series since book one. As the characters of Rosato and DiNunizo have joined as equal partners in a law firm, the diversity of their personalities is as apparent as the cases they represent. These diversities have given Scottoline a plethora of issues on which to base her books.
Now, as Mary's close knit south Philly "family" rally around a family in crisis, she finds herself on the opposite side than her law partner. Could this be the end of their friendship too?
As the story unfolds, there are many unexpected plot changes. But the story stays on tract, and is one that holds your attention. I couldn't stop listening.
This may be the best "all's well that ends well", or "gotcha" book I have read in a long time. Now back on the waiting list for the next adventure of Mary and Bennie.
Don't miss this one!

DiiNunzio Divine

I loved this book. Scottoline lets Mary shine on her own as she changes the dynamic between Mary and Bennie. Bennie sees Mary ,for the first time, as a fierce force to be reckoned with. Mary defends her friend Simon at all costs. Kate Burton does a great job narrating as always.
