Do our Judges do us Justice?

To Philadelphia lawyer Grace Rossi, who's starting over after a divorce, apart-time job with a federal appeals court sounds perfect. But Grace doesn't count on being assigned to an explosive death penalty appeal. Nor does she expect ardor in the court, in the form of an affair with her boss, Chief Judge Armen Gregorian. Then the truly unimaginable happens and Grace finds herself investigating a murder. Unearthing a six-figure bank account kept by a judge with an alias. Breaking into another judge's chambers, and a secret apartment. Following a trail of bribery and judicial corruption that's stumped even the FBI. In no time at all, Grace under fire takes on a whole new meaning.

Its good Lisa Scottoline read but not one of her best.

good book

I am a fan. I love Lisa's novels. This would get a 5 if not for the winces I experienced for expressions of naivete that were inconsistent with the character. And, honestly, the general public. Intermittent incredulous ('Would he REALLY...?!') reactions sabotaged the tone of entire interactions.
I'm always offended with disrespect for other's beliefs on any level. 'Jesus', 'Christ', and derivatives are frequently used as an expletive. I don't tolerate this any more than racism or antisemitism.

5 if not for intermittent naivete

I have listened to many of her books and most likely will continue .. my only and consistent issue I have with this author's stories is the overly sympathetic regard for cold blooded murderers.( in this book to the point of sociopathy). I don't want to give anything away. I mean I'm not bloodthirsty yet if my beloved family member or friends were murdered outright in Cold blood I would not imagine feeling so afraid to defend myself against the perpetrator much less hurt them or knock them out and even perhaps kill them during that who cares I just don't get why the author leans on the side of the perpetrator. PS I'm a liberal and I'm not a violent person but it's so egregious that it's to the point where it makes it hard to even listen to her stories

fun smart listening . odd allegence to the bad guy

I thought the whole book was entertaining and captured the thriller aspect of advertised genre. But once the climax of the book was finished the whole book just ended. It was kind of like reading a letter with no or little closing.

Poor ending

This book was hard to follow and very slow. Try as I might the book made call asleep.
