best book

I have used many Excel how-to manuals over the years, and I can say unequivocally that this is the most high-end product available for Excel business modeling. The content in this book is the type of material that you would learn in an Ivy League MBA program (~$100k in tuition) or at a top consulting firm after years experience -- all for the price of a textbook. The pedigree of the author is incredible, both academically and industry-wise, and I truly felt as if I was learning from the preeminent guy in the field. I think the biggest advantage of this book over similar products is that the author uses real-life examples that he has encountered in his decades of consulting experience in industry to teach the reader complex modeling from finance to supply chain to sports analytics. Unlike other material I have used, the author is adept at engaging the reader and making you feel like he is talking directly to you. I am a consultant at one of the most notable firms in the world, and this book has become the secret weapon that differentiates me from my peers.

It is great Excell Book

Power Query is the first step in analyzing data, before you do any substantial analysis, you need to get the data into Excel. Not only get data into Excel but probably clean it up. Parse columns, join columns, remove errors, you know, that kind of stuff.

interested in learning how to model

If you are interested in learning how to model with Excel then this is a very good reference. Covers a lot of ground from the basic Excel functions used to create pretty robust models. A step by step approach and examples online, the reader who is willing to invest time should get a lot of benefit from the work.

A book for every excel user

Every excel user needs this book it's a real reference tool that can help guide you. My only complaint is that some things really do require a visual it would be nice if the book was linked to videos or something

love this book

Any book, or even a website, can walk you through a step by step process. Not just anyone, however, can help you conceptualize key points and present complex material in accessible terms. Moore also uses pictures to help illustrate his examples. Screenshots are extremely helpful in software guides, because when you try to replicate an example you can see exactly how to do so. Moore's casual tone makes this book even more so accessible to most readers who are interested in utilizing Excel Pivot Tables for their business or personal use. A very good point that Moore makes, is conceptualizing the use of Pivot Tables as layers: Data, Business Logic, and Presentation. After outlining some good practices, like avoiding putting Data, and Presentation on the same page, and not wasting too much time on formatting Data, since it's just the "back end," Moore explains how to use PivotTables to derive information from data. This becomes the Business Logic and Presentation of the workbook. The book concludes with helpful Tips and Tricks for Pivot Tables and Charts. As a student and a working professional, I really appreciated the concise nature of the book, as well as real life examples. Great read for anyone interested in learning something that would help add real value to their skillset.
