Publisher's summary

I just want a taste of you. Or a touch. My fantasies about you plague my every waking hour. My only comfort is imagining that similar fantasies might obsess you too. When young librarian Gwendolynne Price starts finding increasingly erotic love notes to her in the suggestion box at work, she finds them both shocking and liberating. But who is her mystery admirer and how long will he be content to just admire her from afar...?

Oh, so yummy!

If you could sum up In Too Deep in three words, what would they be?

Enthralling, Titillating and Hot!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nemesis. He made me yearn to be Gwendolyn!

Which scene was your favorite?

I can't pick one. There were way too many. But I did like the scene where Gwendolyn secretly watched the Professor masturbate.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and I did!

Any additional comments?

I think the narrator did a very good job. I will listen to this one over and over!

Oh my...

A brilliant combination of erotica, suspense (of the titillating kind) and romance. The narrator is OUTSTANDING. She makes the book a very personal experience, especially as it's written in first person. Not for the faint-hearted, i.e. if you like just a little bit of hotness in the romantic stories you read then this story might be too much for you. Portia and Imogen transport you, in the opening scene, directly to Gwendolynne's first letter from 'Nemesis' and it is... ...well, you've got to listen to it to see what I mean :) I love this book because it has just the right combination of everything for my taste in erotica and it is also very believable. Gwendolynne is not a perfect Barbie doll and neither is Daniel a perfect Ken, though his physical attributes are very adequate, even with his 'spectacles'. It's believable too because the core of Daniel's situation gives clear insight as to why he might choose such intensity in his interactions with Gwendolynne. Lovely ending too. A very satisfying book. A++++++++++
P.S. This book was published in 2008 so it precedes Fifty Shades of Grey by four years. It is far better, from so many points of view, especially the writing style, which is impeccable.

Well-written, All sex romance

I liked this story, but its likeability waned at 3/4s through it because I tired of all of the sex and that being the entire basis of the romantic relationship between divorced librarian, Gwendolyn Price and historian, Daniel Brewster (aka Professor Hottie). And I especially tired of hearing about how moist and wet Gwendolyn was in her vaginal area. I love erotica, and this is good. But I just wish it had more of a balance, a bit more focus on non-sexual aspects of a romantic relationship and the characters’ lives in order to keep me engaged. With all of the sex, it all becomes a bit too predictable after a while. And an all-sex story, even as well-written as this one, struggles to stay entertaining when nothing else is there. It’s the reason why most of the stories in the erotica section are less than an hour. This author tried to include another factor, a small mystery focused on mystery-man, Nemesis, in order to make the story about more than just sex. But the mystery also had sex as the focus, so that didn’t go anywhere, not away from sex, anyway. Still, they are some of the hottest sex scenes, albeit, overdone after a while.

The story has several Britishisms, and the narrator handles all of the characters well. And I liked that Gwendolyn was sized 16-18, which Daniel loved. But the story never went below an 8 on the heat scale of 1-10 with 10 being the hottest. So I was ready for it to be over when it ended, though I really enjoyed it through more than half of the book.

Bravo Awsome Narration and great writing!

The performance from Imogen Church was incredible! She reads so well you think you are at a movie watching the story unfold. The book was interesting, characters very likeable, I could actually see this story being played out in non-fiction. The writing was hot and erotic w/out being gross, predictable, unrealistic or stupid (as some erotic scenes can get). There was humor in Guendolen's first party thoughts that she frequently shared, created a little suspense all while the writing created vivid depictions of the story.

I listened to this book by myself first and liked it so much I thought my wife would like to hear it as well. So I listened again with her while recently driving on a trip. She enjoyed it and I equally enjoyed it the second time as well.

In Too Deep - Steamy story

I really enjoyed this book. I like the way Portia writes, and the language she uses is intelligent and skillfully intimate.
I couldn't put this book down, I loved Nemesis & Daniel, and the way we were kept guessing.
The book would have made 5 stars if the story had not eneded a bit abrubtly. I won't go into details but one minute it is the climax of the story and the next it is over. However, I still loved the book and will listen again and would definitely recommend to others. Imogen Church was wonderful as the narrator.
