Episode 11

I'm not into horror books or movies so I don't think I'll be getting any from this list but it was still interesting to hear about different books in this episode.

Meeting a Tall Challenge

Story: 4-Stars
************

The premise of this episode is one editor (the genre enthusiast) suggesting - based upon some clarifying questions and personal knowledge - one or two 'gateway' audiobooks to another editor (the genre scrooge). This is a clever approach that the hosts have taken very seriously, and the result is an interesting back and forth that is well worth the listen.

Also included is a guest editor (Aaron) who covers some selections which tie into Hispanic Heritage Month.

Performance:
************

There is an honesty to the conversations here that really comes through the audio. You can almost feel the hosts' discomfort as they offer and receive their recommendations, searching for some common ground upon which they both can stand. I would be interested in a follow-up episode that covers whether the recommendations were successful or not!

While informative, the Hispanic Heritage Month conversation felt a bit bolted on, to be honest, and while Aaron eventually gets into a better groove as the episode goes on, his presentation is not as polished as the regular hosts of the show.
