Publisher's Summary

Can a human heart withstand the flames of a dragon’s soul?

For centuries, the dragons of Kalleen have ruled the skies. Blessed by the goddess of fire, those born of her power are destined to exist within two worlds while fully belonging to neither.

As the youngest daughter of the dragon queen, Amelia has always been torn between her humanity and winged form. In meeting Stephen, she found a blossoming love that gave her hope of finding balance. But it is a dream destroyed when her sister, and future queen, sets her sights upon the same man.

Forced from her lover’s side, Amelia embraces a self-imposed exile, taking refuge in the northern mountains. In this new life of solitude, she banishes painful memories by retreating to her dragon form, sheltering the wounded girl within. Yet it is an isolation that cannot last, as the new dragon queen’s cruelty bears down upon the kingdom, allowing an ancient enemy to rise.

Drawn from her banishment by the pleas of friends, Amelia must choose. Will she embrace the destructive beast within? Or draw upon the frail humanity that lingers dimly in her soul, in a desperate attempt to help her people and mend a broken heart?

Great story, decent Performance

I have bought and read Embracing the Dragon by KL Bone on my kindle, I wanted to listen to it over again while driving. The story is still fantastic abs beautifully told. I love it!! The narrator was good, Just slightly slow for my tastes. I did enjoy the story again. I still held my breath in some places just like when I read it the first time. I can see myself rereading it several more times I'd the future!!

I absolutely loved this book!

While I've never really been into shifter books I thought I would give this a try since I loved the Black Rose Series. I was not disappointed!! K.L. Bone really makes you see the world she has built and you come to love the characters. I loved watching Amelia grow into the strong woman she becomes by the end. She has such compassion for others and will stand up to protect the innocent. I would definitely recommend this and I can't wait for the next one in the series.

Amazing!

This audiobook was FANTASTIC. I loved it. I listened to the entire thing in one day and moved from the first to the second book right away. And within 5 minutes of starting the second book, I was on KL Bones website checking to make sure there will be a third book. I also plan on looking into more books from K.L Bone. I also really loved this narrator. She did an amazing job. And her voice fits this book perfectly. I am a huge fan! #AudiobookObsession

Sisterly love isn’t found in all sisters

This story wasn’t for me at this time. But I think it’s due to what’s going on around me. I like the narrator she did a good job bring the characters a live. The plot is good I just didn’t connect with the story. #AudiobookObsessionReview

A beautiful and emotional fantasy tale

Sweeping grandeur, regal narration, and solid world-building combine to make a beautiful fantasy romance. The story and narration were not quite perfect, but I like it well enough that I will definitely listen to Book #2 in this series. This Book #1 does not have a cliffhanger, but the next book will continue with the same heroine and her story. The audiobook ends at a good stopping point, but then it has a teaser for a certain plot development in the next book. The story is told in third person perspective mostly of Amelia but sometimes two other characters, Gwain and Connor. The story structure and amount of sorrow involved are like that of a YA romance, but the occasional moderately steamy love scene indicate that it is written for adults. The story centers around dragon shifter Princess Amelia, her tragic circumstances involving her evil older sister, and Amelia’s personal growth. She is monogamous. Overall, the story structure feels more like it is in the fantasy genre or women’s fiction with romance as a minor element. There are a few good action scenes as well. I loved so many things about this book, but there were a few things that I didn’t like very much. I wish that it felt faster paced. Interesting plot developments did occur, but they were spaced out a little too far apart for me. There is a lot of sorrow in the story, which worked well but I would have liked a little more happiness for Amelia occasionally. She wallowed in her misery a little too much for me, but it fit well with the story. Although Amelia was supposed to be somewhat older, she acted like she was 19, and she emotionally developed slowly over the book. I love the narrator Kylie Stewart's regal-sounding English accent for the royals, and she did a great job overall. However, there were so many minor characters that eventually some of them started to sound alike. I guess we reached the limit of how many English-sounding voices that she could create. I had picked this audiobook because Kylie Stewart and K.L. Bone worked so well together as narrator and author on “Wicked Desires” in the Cursed Coven series, and I am glad that I picked this one up as well. I enjoyed this new fairy tale twist on dragon shifters in a fantasy world. Thankfully, there were plenty of dragons and really good world-building in this novel. I recommend this to readers who like both paranormal romance and YA romance. The audiobook was beautiful and captivating. I need more!

Wow, just wow! A lot of stories I fall in love with the whole story, but it takes about 3-5 days to get through them. With Embracing the Dragon, I am pretty sure I just zoomed right through. Two days was all it took for this captivating adventure to take me over. This author, K.L. Bone, really knows how to take you on an otherworldly adventure. Seriously I was there with the dragons and felt every emotion. Even the dull hurt Amelia must have experienced. This story truly encompasses every emotion it possibly could, and you experience the whirlwind with the characters. The writing overall was perfect. The storyline will grasp your attention from beginning to end and believe me that was some ending. Like I could definitely go for more right now, but I will save that for another day. I may have stopped reading another book to listen to this amazing story. I really must finish the other one. I couldn’t help myself though. It’s like this story was calling to me. I’m so glad it did. Next book in the series is already on my wish list to be purchased soon. As far as the production is concerned it was flawless. Seriously this was as smooth of a production as one could get. Let me just say Kylie Stewart did an amazing job narrated this story as well. Without her voice and emotion behind it, I don’t know if I would have fallen as in love with the story as I did. Kylie and K.L. make an amazing team. Overall this is by far one of my favorite books. I feel a bittersweet emotion knowing I will someday reach the end of this series. Yes, I am already feeling this emotion ahead of the game. I can’t wait to dive into the next installment, but to be honest I also want to wait to read it. I just don’t want this adventure to come to an end. Thank you, K.L. Bone for such an amazing book and experience! I loved every minute listening to Kylie deliver such an amazing performance of an even more amazing book! Intense dragon world

This book was really good. I enjoyed K.L. Bone's writing style. The world building is fantastic and the character development is perfect. Kaleen is the youngest daughter of the dragon queen. She has a somewhat easy going life. She has a boyfriend that devotes all his attention to her and she never has to worry about going hungry. When her sister takes the throne she banashes Kaleen. Kaleen has to come to terms with the fact that her sister is kind of evil and isn't good for the kingdom. This book was intense and full of action and great characters! If you can get the audiobook, I highly recommend it. The narrator did such a great job. She was very easy to listen to and follow along with even though I was doing a million other things while listening. #audiobookobsessionreviewer

too short too many characters too much too short

I have to say in the beginning of the audio I was taken aback by the lyrical quality of the narrators voice. I was not expecting it to feel so fantasy. There was a slight lilte to the voice. I almost ran from the audio but the story pulled me in. I almost ran from it because some of the voice in the beginning sounded very similar. Almost not being able to distinguished them. That did change. The story itself lured me in and kept me going. I found it to be more of Amelia/Elizabeth being more of her human than her dragon. I did find that along her journey she encountered some true friends. Right when I was getting immersed in. That was the end of the book. I do want to see more of where the kingdom heads next. ****** I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by K.L. Enjoyable

Audiobook Review I listened to this in a day. The narrator has an engaging voice and I found it easy to get on with my activities while enjoying the story. Kalleen is the youngest daughter of the dragon queen. When her sister takes the throne. Kalleen is sent away. She looses her home and her boyfriend, but the fate her sister has set upon her is worse than both. Kalleen escapes and her eyes are open to a new world. One not protected by her royal blood. Once the truth is seen you can’t go back. Kalleen needs to find her true place in the world. This was unique and interesting. The book talks us through the back stories of quite a few characters and in this case it worked well. The picture slowly built of a world of hope. 4.5 stars out of 5. I received an ARC as part of the audiobook tour. My review is honest and my own.

Dragons!

At the very beginning it seems a little slow but after a short while, Amelia's life is completely uprooted by her sister's reign. Amelia's unintentional actions lead her to become withdrawn and secluded. This is a second chance romance but more so one in which the individual finds love again with someone new after being completely devastated. I loved the Dragon shifter aspect of the story. I love that we get to see Amelia grow and strengthen as a character as she learns to embrace her dragon. The narrator does a good job of giving us a performance that fits the setting and characters well. We are aware that the story is set in a kingdom but we maintain a constant feeling of being in a medieval/regal setting just based off of the narrators voice alone which really adds to the story.

Fascinating characters and world. Great narration

This story and these characters were beautifully brought to life by Kylie Stewart. I found it to be a really interesting story. The idea behind the whole thing is not one I have come across in this way before. The customs of the world intrigued me. I loved watching Amelia as she worked through everything that was thrown at her. I spent time cheering her on in my head. It's a great start to a series.

pretty good but wanted more

I really enjoyed this book. Honestly give me dragons any day and I'm pretty invested. I really liked Amelia's character. She was strong and had her morals aligned but was very vulnerable as well. Traits like this really help make a character more relatable. While most of the story was predictable I was definitely engaged the entire time. Even though I liked the story and it was engaging, I just felt like nothing really happened. I wished there was more to the story. It went by very fast. I also wasnt a big fan of the other characters back stories. They were important to the story but I feel like they could have been done through conversation instead of chapters. This would have opened up the story line for something more. Although there were a couple of things that didn't work for me, overall I really enjoyed this. with how the book ended I'm very curious on how the rest of the series will turn out. Audio review (please note this does not affect my rating of the book) I really enjoyed the narration of this book. The voice as really nice to listen to and I felt like she emulated Amelia well. My only issue was there wasn't much difference of affliction in the other characters voices. I really had to make sure I was following the conversation and who was actually speaking. I would still recommend this audio though.

Great Start & Vivid World Building

This was a really good start to a new dragon shifter series! Amelia is the youngest daughter from the previous dragon queen which leaves her torn between her humanity and dragon form. When she met Stephen, she gave up the battle and focused on her love for him, but unfortunately her sister has her sights set on him as well. The story starts off with Amelia’s sister’s coronation which the queen chooses to sentence her to the temple to be a voice for the gods, a fate worse than death. She disobeys her sister’s orders and chooses to go to the northern mountains to be an exile and live out the rest of her days. But the people being treated poorly by the new queen have other plans and she must choose to help them or remain an exile. The world building that KL created was absolutely amazing along with the vivid descriptions and scenery. I loved the midievil feel of this book with the characters as knights, dragons, damsels in distress, queens, and princesses. I can’t wait to see what happens next! Kylie did a great job with this narration! Her voice drew me in from the start and her English accent was perfect for this book. I liked the different voices she used for each character and the flawless flow between them made it easy to distinguish who was talking. *I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. @AudiobookObsession

Enjoyed this story. Amelia is betrayed by both her sister and her lover. She hides in the mountains spending most of her time in dragon form. Can she save her people from her sister? Can she save herself from the dragon taking control? The book ends on cliffhanger. 🎧 audio obsession

Amazing Read....Ends On Cliffhanger

Embracing The Dragon by K.L. Bone is book one in the Flames Of Kalleen Series that I listened to on audio narrated by Kylie Stewart. This is the first book by K.L that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last one. She does an amazing job pulling you into the story. Kylie did an amazing job narrating. She uses different voices for the characters which made it easy to follow along. The book does end on a cliffhanger but book two Releasing The Dragon is already released. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves paranormal/shifters books.
