Publisher's Summary

After accepting the fact that he will never know his old reality again, Gunnar looks forward toward building a new life inside Eden's Gate.

It's time to form a guild, gather resources, and earn the acceptance of the Edgewood inhabitants.

If only things were that easy....

The dark elves aren't thrilled about having humans in Edgewood, the mine isn't vacant, and you can't form a guild without at least a few guild mates.

Will Gunnar pursue Adeelee? Is Rachel still out there somewhere? And who is Jax exactly? Could he really be a Sparrow?

More robotic than the NPC's

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The story isn't compelling and only covers a few days, the main character struggles with a few moral decisions, but doesn't act on the single paragraph of guilt he feels

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Extremely predictable with no emotional appeal, doesn't help that the main character has forgotten his reason for forming his guild

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator delivers lines with a constant monotone.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Eden's Gate: The Sparrow?

The earlier scenes with Jax and the speculation around him

Any additional comments?

I can tell the author is a huge fan of the drizz't books because the main character is heavily influenced, which I find irritating

Good book but struggled

So I struggled a bit with this books. It just did not excite me as much as the first one did. I’m going to give the third one a try. I’ll let you know how that goes

narration is trash <br />

The story is great, and their is plenty of enjoyment to be had. The lackluster performance by the narrator leaves much to be desired. All in all, good book; it would be significantly better if the narrator wasn't garbage.

The Thick Plotens

A perfect return to the story of our hero as he thwarts his foes and gains a foothold in the new world of Eden's Gate.

author has no clue

authors only throwing in litrpg references because it adds window dressing and allows him to pad the story, and use a hashtag. Gives no explanation to what any skills are stats actually do for the characters other than allow them to cast different spells. Loves repetition of useless statistics, but never actually uses any of the statistics in the story, or shows how skills help in combat. most characters are still cardboard cutouts, the story is almost non-existent until the last one third of the book, which he conveniently finds the Jax character while looking for another one of these sparrows.

Listened to both books was dubious at first but the more I listened the more I got hooked, if there are more Eden’s gate I would love to know, mr Brody, please don’t let it end there, you can’t let it end there, 😏😉

Another great book from Brody

Purchased this as soon as it became available after listening to the first book. The author did a good job with the story picking up where the last book finished off. The characters development through the story continues to grow and the MC does not become some kind of uber player which is good. The character leveling is consistent and not like other litrpg authors novels who feel the need to describe every stat levelling which happens nearly every other paragraph which is very annoying, Edward Brody has done a far better job with his novels than alot of other litrpg authors. Definitely looking forward to book 3. Pavi Proczko continues to do an brilliant job narrating the books I hope he continues to the other books in this series!

Terrific Litrpg

Far better than the self proclained king of litrpg, Aleron Kong and yet I think his is really good too.

Just wish these litrpg self publishers would get a real proof reader, which none so far have done.
Only downside is the rather silly Americanising of the language such as month, day, year. In what world does it go month before day followed by year. Small quibbles really but when listening instead of reading, they really stand out and spoil the narration somewhat.

This narrator was an excellent choice though, with good rythm, speed, volume and pitch as well as an excellent range across both male and female voices.

Looking forward to book 3.

Good story. really enjoyed it

Any additional comments?

Only one problem. Why would someone that is so interested in magic and invests in intellect, always forget to use his magic in his fights apart from one boring fire spell that he has had since early book one?
