Publisher's summary

The past is waiting.

Josie Jackson has been thrown back to the era of the Mongol Empire by Carter, the mastermind behind her trip to the Old West. Soon after arriving, she’s discovered by Carter’s enemies. They sever her connection to her handler, leaving her no choice but to obey them - or risk never making it home.

She completes the mission they assign her, only to have her hope of seeing her family and time again crushed. Her new handlers have stranded her in the past - alone, friendless, and with no empathic memory chip to help her navigate the dangerous politics of an empire at war.

When a Mongol warrior named Batu becomes her protector and guide, she can't decide if she's better off with him or alone. Strong, brave, loyal, and quick to both laugh and kill, Batu and his world initially baffle her. With nowhere else to turn and no other option, Josie takes a chance to find happiness in the beautiful yet dangerous steppes of 13th century Mongolia.

Looking forward to Book 3

Time travel to this century is not easy for Josie. She must learn to like it and except its ways. Is she trapped here? Time will tell.
Not as good as Book 1 but still very worth the read.

Loved it!

In my opinion, you can't ever go wrong with any of Lizzy's books, but being able to listen to this story, I picked up on little things, feelings that were enhanced by the narrator and I think therefore made me love the story this way even more. Add into it the fact that this series gives a great adventure, and takes us into the past. Josie will have to learn who to trust, if there is such a thing, and somehow make it back to her time so she can still have a future. But only time will tell what that future may look like...I cannot wait to see where the next adventure takes me.

Great 2nd book!

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I thought this was a great follow up to book 1. The story continues to be well written and very engaging. I loved the change of time/setting to 13th century Mongolia. Granted I've always been fascinated by the Mongol Empire. Anyway, the narration is still well done and kept me interested the story the whole time. I can't wait to dive into book 3!

Wow! Loved the story! Loved the narration! Again!

The 2nd book in a series usually isn't as good. This was was as great as the first! I fell in love with Josie all over again.
I'm listening to North right now, and I'm bitter sweetly looking forward to South, because it might be the end of the series.
I'm praying for North West, South East, ect. Lizzy Ford, I love this series! Lillian Yves, I love Josie!

Time travel is complicated.

The second book in the History Interrupted series has a lot of ambition, but it tends to fall a little short. Like with most books that involve time travel to a degree, East opens up plot holes that just don't make sense. The book builds to a big reveal, which really doesn't feel true to the story, at all. I feel like the story over complicates itself, trying to tie a lot of what's going on in this book to things in the previous one, but it's unnecessary. I don't know, the end really disappointed me.

The beginning of the book was great. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole set up and execution of her new love interest, the very quick getting-over of her previous one (somewhat disappointing), and the vast journey we took. It's an overall enjoyable story, again with one graphic smut scene threw in there for good measure. I am curious to see where we go in future books, but I will not be rushing to purchase as soon as it becomes available.

No Way to Have Known Where This Was Going

After the ending of the prior book [no spoilers here], I wasn't sure where we were headed. Well, the title was a clue, I suppose. Love it or hate it, the romance elements which were fairly prominent in the first book, are rather muted here. That doesn't bother me, as I prefer all the elements of a book to support the story, and this story grew in a direction where those romance elements weren't as necessary as they had been. Lizzie Ford's story and worldbuilding continue apace, Josie is wonderfully voiced by the incredibly talented Lillian Yves, who also masterfully manages the complex supporting cast, and things end with more questions than answers, a perfect way to set up book three,
