Continue the Frith Chronicles with the second audiobook, Dread Pirate Arcanist!

While protecting the newborn griffins on the Isle of Landin, Volke Savan and his adopted sister, Illia, run afoul of the Dread Pirate Calisto, the same cutthroat who carved out Illia’s right eye. As a master manticore arcanist, Calisto’s strength and brutality are unrivaled, so when Illia suggests they bring him to justice, Volke wonders if they’ll have what it takes to fight the corsairs on the high seas.

A fast-paced flintlock fantasy for those who enjoy How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell, Unsouled (Cradle Series) by Will Wight, and Percy Jackson, and the Olympians by Rick Riordan.

I love these books, I've listened to both 1 and 2 in one week and will be starting the next one tomorrow.
The performance was so much better in this one than the first, you can tell Brian Wiggins is putting his all in each story.
The only reason I gave it a 4 star review is simply because whenever Brian acts out the plagued beasts I can't help but think of Mark Hamill's Joker, and it sounded as though he mispronounced broken ( yes I listened multiple times to be sure) towards the end of the book.
Other than that I'll be pre-ordering book 4 and can't wait to see where the adventure leads.

I read book 1 as a recommendation and mostly enjoyed it. Enough to read book 2 and I'm so glad I did! This was a super fun book that pulls you in and doesn't let you go.

Already looking forward to the next book

Shami Stovall’s second book in the Frith Chronicles is full of action and further character development of the main protagonists and villains. We learn of several types of mystical creatures and their unique abilities. The description of this fictional world is scattered throughout the fast paced story using picturesque prose, metaphors and similes. Several questions about the characters were answered, but others were left unanswered, which draws you in to reading the next book in the series. Well done!

Great descriptive language!

narrator does a good job with bringing the story to life. not a fan of the Illia and Zaxis relationship but it's a minor part so doesn't affect much.

A good story
