A stand-alone story in the Shadow Beast Shifters world. Best listened to after Reborn for storyline continuity.

Melalekin "Angel" of the Honor Meadows has been a warrior her entire life. Battle. Death. Loss. They were her constant companions until the day she met Mera Callahan. A shifter who ended up being so much more. A shifter who changed her life, and now...she has been reborn. The scars of her past are gone. Her losses muted under the new life she plans on living.

There's just one being standing in her way. A grudge holding desert deity who has made an art form out of making her life hell.

Reece of the Desert Lands is a god unused to being defied, and he has a very long memory when it comes to those who wronged him. Angel is the one he blames for the worst loss in his life, and he'll never let her forget it. Their history is tragic and bloodied, and the pair is set to clash one more time, especially when they end up trapped in the very spot where they lost it all. A meeting of the dynasties in the Delfora, the ancient desert lands, will force them to the place it all began.

Here they will learn that sometimes the past defines your future. And that there is a fine line between love and hate.

Note: This is a stand-alone in the Shadow Beast world and does not end on a cliff-hanger. It is full-length, and it is advised to listen to the first three in the Shadow Beast Shifters series first (Rejected, Reclaimed, Reborn). This is an enemies-to-lovers story, with action, snark, antiheroes, and steam. It is recommended for 18+ due to storyline and situations.

I still don't know why Recee was so upset with Angel over leaving the battle all those centuries ago I was super annoyed he was part of the reason that the merry band of a holes shunned her. However, I was very happy to see them finally connect. I was so bummed with Alistor! Definitely wasn't expecting that. I wish she would have gone a little more into their past since they were best friends. They must have had a ton of adventures and I wish they would have gone I to that as they were sailing across the desert. I'm really looking forward to Simon and Luciens story.

Loved this story

Loved it! A great story put together and finally the main characters are together. I knew there would be hot hate sex scenes. Definitely a must but aware that you might cry like I did. Why did Jaymin have to kill him?!!! That is so unfair, please bring him back ASAP. Other than that a fantastic performance by the narrators in bringing the characters to life.

I’m emotional 😭

I’m sad it’s ending with just the 5 books. This story was great. It was a little slow at times. But the one thing I appreciate about Jaymin is that she doesn’t go over board with the sex scenes( Any Anita Blake readers Out there I think you will agree). I felt that Reece and angle maybe needed 2 books of world disaster and bond rebuilding. Or maybe some more perspective from Reece because tho we understand where they stand from the shadowshine story line it felt a little rushed. I was not as excited during this story as I was with shadowshine. BUT I still appreciate and love that we got this story and over all it was pretty solid. My heart broke a little tho I feel like we didn’t have much connection with the character we did not bring back to the library with us and it was hard for me to connect to the pain of the other characters it was also sort of a dead give away earlier in the book that we would be losing that specific character.

I still absolutely recommend. Jaymin is a great writer.

I love this series.
