Publisher's Summary

THE CURSE IS SET. THE GAME IS RIGGED.

In an Elven city beneath the streets of Chicago, the perfect storm rages, kept under control only by Marbella Mercy, the Storm Princess. Now she is of age, champions from each of the elven houses will play a game of wit and strength to fight for her hand - and for the chance to control the forces of nature.

Baelen Rath is the last of his line and risks everything to be a champion. But what he and the others don't know? The princess is fighting too.

Because she's discovered that the winner is cursed to kill her, not marry her, and the only way to save herself is to win.

But Marbella is fighting a power greater than herself, because someone believes that the perfect storm should be unleashed and for that to happen - the princess must die.

This is a full length (85,000 words) fantasy story. Elves. Gargoyles. And the Perfect Storm that might destroy them both.

Interesting, but didn't like the narrator

The story had kind of a different plot, and I generally like books by Jaymin Eve, but I didn't find this heroine particularly likeable, nor become vested in a happy ending for her. The fact that I disliked the narrator may have contributed to my negative opinion. Her voice when speaking as Marbella was really irritating and whiny and too high-pitched -- very hand-wringing, "woe is me" -- in tone and cadence. She also seems to pronounce "quarters" as "cor-ters", which for some reason really got on my nerves, especially since this word is used frequently throughout the book, and I winced each time. In the future I will be avoiding books by this narrator.

Character development lacked substance

While this book had a somewhat compelling back story, the author did not spend enough time on character development. I never felt like I got to know the two main characters. Even more baffling was why they would be in love since literally NO time was spent explaining their connection. I didn’t believe the love story and that ruined the rest of the book for me. Eh, do yourself a favor and go read anything written by Sarah J. Mass.

Don't Miss This!!

I had this in my wish list for several months. it seemed kind of interesting, but not quite my cup of tea. Then I ran out of other things to listen to, so I caved. I'm now kicking myself for waiting so long to try this one! This is exactly what I was looking for! the writing was so well done, the story kept me interested and was original, and the narrator was fantastic! Don't make the mistake I made by waiting. This is a must have for anyone who likes fantasy a little or a lot.

A fierce and brave character

Mirabella is a fierce and loyal person. She'd do anything for the ones she loves, even fight every male in the trails. This book will suck you in.

Amazingly captivating

Having read the story and fallen in love with it I decided to try listening. This book was great again! The narrator was an amazing choice for Marbella and did a decent job at making the males voices too. I laughed, I cried, I probably looked crazy driving down the road. Not much could make me excited for the hour commute to work each day, but the chance to continue on the journey with Marbella and Baelen was one of them.

Pretty good

I wasn’t sure I’d like this book as it started, and almost gave up on it. As I got further into the story, it picked up and I felt it got better. Looking forward to see where the journey takes the Princess.

I really enjoyed this. Both of the authors are authors I've been wanting to try for a while, but the romance of the story was more of a sub-plot. I enjoyed the concept of the storm and how it evolved throughout the tale. For those of us that are category readers:

Wow, Wow, Wow!!!

This was just an amazing read! The narration was perfection! Megan does a phenomenal job of this story. She has so much emotion in her voice while reading you literally can’t help but feel everything.

Narration aside though this first instalment was just incredible! Everly Frost & Jaymin Eve together is just Completely wowing. I can’t wait to read the next one. In fact I’m reeeeeaaallly desperate for it. You can’t just leave that massive cliffhanger....I’m dying over here! I’ve fallen completely in love with all the characters that I’m stressing a little over here.

With all my craziness aside though you really should just read the book for yourself and make a decision. You won’t regret it.

Happy Reading

***An absolute winner***

I am so used of reading mediocre books that I gave half expected this to be the same, oh boy was I wrong, this is a gripping story, a excellent plot and world building. It grips me from the moment I start listening and I couldn't put it down, the story is fantastic and fresh. Megan Tusing she is absolutely brilliant in her narratives. wow just wow.
