Publisher's Summary

When Emma moves to Astoria, Oregon, she is given two rules:

#1 - don’t cross to “their” side of the street.
#2 - don’t mess with the elites, especially Lexen Darken, top elite and resident bad boy.

While she finds this both weird and insulting, Emma has no actual intention of breaking these rules - until her guardians go missing. Now all bets are off. Only a single line separates her side of the street from the elites', and she's crossing it.

Captured and held by Lexen and his brothers, she learns the rules are in place for a very good reason. There's a secret world hidden in this small town that goes far beyond the one she knows and understands.

A world not for humans.

This is a full-length fantasy/paranormal romance story. It's upper YA, with cursing and some nondetailed sex scenes/references.

Amazing !

The book is wonderful, with a well-crafted story and developed ben. The book captured me from beginning to end, leaving that desire to know what will happen in the next books. I still had not read any of this author and I enjoyed the experience.
Now, about the narration work done by Vanessa Moyen, I liked it. Was a great job.

Alien or Supernatural?

UpperYA level story due to physical consummation in the epilogue. Don’t worry- it’s not explicit in any way. Your call if you consider this an Alien or Supernatural genre.
Emma and her guardians move to Astoria in time for her to start her senior year of high school. Life gets complicated when she comes to the attention of one of the Elite families. There’s enough of a description of the storyline in Audible and Amazon to decide if you’re interested. I thought it was interesting and creative, but it didn’t move me as much as JE’s series co-written with Jane Washington.
Moyen does a decent job of narration.

Surprisingly Good!

I actually really enjoyed this book. The world building was great and it got me out of a reading slump that I have been experiencing lately. I enjoyed most of the characters and the story built up nicely, but I could've had more added details to the end of the story. The narrator was good but some of her male character voices actually bothered me and I wish she had used a different voice for some of the main guy characters. I know this story will continue and it looks like we will be with different characters, so I hope that the plot is different. I will still be continuing on with this series!

The story has so much promise!

I loved the plot and story line, however, the narrator pretty much ruined the story with her terribly broken reading cadence and her not so pleasant male voices. Her stops and pauses were so frequent and erratic that it totally detracted from the book and made it seem like a kids story read by your big sister. Please chooses different narrator for the next books, I will not be able to finish the series unless it’s corrected. This book just wasn’t for her.

not that bad

little slow would have been better as weres or vamps rather than aliens but 7 out of 10 just hope next book follows same characters rather than starting the story from a new perspective
