He descends into Purgatory, not the dimension, but the long-running roving party run by a man who might just be a lot more holy than his job would evidence. Then he's thwarted by a troupe of men (or more) dedicated to "bringing light". Harker learns a lot about the Original Lightbringer in this climactic cliff-hanger of a season finale!

great fun

This one is great fun with a fair number of unexpected turns along the way. if you liked the previous work in the series you already know you're going to get this one, so why delay? highly recommended.

Love these books!

When I 1st started listening to these books, I wasn't sure if I would like them or not now I have purchased everyone I can find.I can't wait to see what else this author has to offer. I am definitely hooked!

I wasn’t ready for the other

Characters but I see what was done and hopefully the story gets better. I didn’t know there were so many blacks people in Harker’s entourage and I lover it!

Quincy Harker follow up series is fun.

Fun magical series. Light-hearted fiction that's really 5 mid-sized shorter stories with a common theme with characters introduced in previous stories. Warning, the banter is witty but vulgar making this a grown up tale and an easy listen.

Interesting...

I’m always a fan of authors that use multiple POVs, preferable separate (like one per chapter) since it seems not all authors can write multiple POVs one after another as in multiple per chapter. The author does a good job with that. While I love the narrator's voice when he does Quincy, I’m a big fan of Adam’s POV.

My biggest issue with this story was the part involving Jerome. I felt there was a lot of information left out/questions unanswered, whether on purpose or not, seemed unlikely they’d been on purpose though (explained further down). Also the fact that this is the "Quest for Glory," yet she was barely mentioned in this book.

As always, the narrator does an awesome job! He definitely brings the Quincy character to life.

Top three biggest questions… they’re so big they need to go about the Questions/Comments section. That’s how big they are!

1. If God left his realm because he wanted to punish his archangels (have them take care of the humans), how did they not realize he’d been gone since basically the beginning of time?

2. Why would God have had the archangels prior to creating the humans or was he preparing for something? (Getting philosophical here.)

3. Why did the archangels decide to leave?

4. How did the demons know God was misplaced and Quincy and gang were looking for the angels?

Questions/Comments:

At the beginning of part one, Joe ends up showering after her match. Who uses a scrunchie to wash their body with?

While I usually don’t like a big recap when going from one book to the next in a series, I can’t remember how Joe and friends acquired Michael’s sword. Was that from Luke?

I still can’t figure out how Joe knew where to find Michael/Mitchell. She mentions looking for a fighter, but with there being so many people in that city, where would she have even started?

I swear with the repetition of Joe telling Jake that he didn’t have to turn around while she showered, she really wanted him watching her. Was that just me?

So, Leon in the game store is sitting in his magical circle. I assume it’s similar to a witch’s circle? If so, why was there no mention of him closing the circle after Mitch joins him (to keep the bad stuff out)? Or is it not like a witch’s circle?

Why did Mitch have the scars on his back as though his wings had been removed?

There’s the part when Jerome is getting ready to open his front door and the demon blasts him backward. Adam is there to save the day. When he first sees the demon, he describes it. Then after moving toward Jerome, who’s on the ground unconscious, he looks back up and describes it again, but using different adjectives, albeit meaning the same as the first ones.

I have several questions relating to Jerome:

1. Adam mentions that the only thing remaining of Jerome’s house were the front concrete steps.
What happened to the rest of the house? It seemed like the majority of the bad stuff the demon let loose was directed to Adam who was closer to the street than the house.

2. What exactly happened with Jerome after he came to? It’s like he gets knocked out, comes to (I forgot where), and is back to work like nothing happened.

3. Did he ever see his house?

4. Did he ever wonder what the beep happened to him? It's like he was attacked and the author was done with him.

5. Why was the demon trying to kill him if he was no one special? That made no sense to me.

6. Adam later states that night that Jerome should be fine now and didn’t feel like he was in any danger…even though he’d been attacked just a few hours prior. That made no sense to me either. If the demons wanted to kill Jerome, why would they stop after a single attack?

There was an inconsistency I came across when Adam was describing how it wasn’t possible to do an autopsy on a vampire. First, he says that vampires are dead. Makes sense. But then, he says that you can’t do an autopsy (minus the fact they’re likely to turn to dust or explode) because they’re still alive after death. I don’t remember the exact wording but just listen to the part after Adam comes to in the nun’s castle or whatever it was called.

I loved the character Sparkles. He was funny, especially his interactions with Adam when he’d try to hang up on Sparkles.

Terrific stories esp. Adam's!

This continues Quincy Barker Demon Hunter books # 9-12. The Shadow Company is helping Quincy and Luke,(Dracula)find the rest of the demons involved in the slaughter of their friends and who cut off the wings of Quincy's guardian angel. Oh, they can't ask God to replace them, or any archangel to ask God because they are all missing! I'm this book, they are tracking down angels, fighting demons, and hoping hell doesn't make its way to heaven while there is no one to guard the place! Lots of action, unpredictability, angels, demons, magic, bit of gore and lots of craziness! I did like that two of the stories were from minor players but very interesting. One was Jo, I think that was her name. She carries a big hammer. Descendant of John Henry. The other was Adam Frank, known by most as Frankenstein 's monster. Those were good!
Read these collections in order for the best enjoyment. Quincy Barker Year One, The Cambion Cycle, then this one. I can't wait to get the final one, Salvation!

I discovered John's books through the Authors and Dragons podcast. These guys do not disappoint!!! Their D&D game may be a bit of a shit show, but these guys know how to write!! Love John's books!!!

I bought the whole series and I'm loving it.

I really enjoyed this. there are a few little references that are very enjoyable throughout the series that adds flair and humor, I've loved every one I've heard.

Great characters make for a great book. Totally enjoyed it. I'm only confused about what book deals with what happened in zAtlanta

I love when the books get bundled together. Lots of listening time for one great credit.

The Quincy Harker series contains so much snark that it helps balance out the horror that these series describe. Start with year one and work your way through.
