Publisher's summary

An adorkable teacher plays Cinderella, with a handsome app developer as her fairy godmother, when she needs a date to her high school reunion.

She might know lots about arithmetic, but this teacher needs to go back to school for love.

Haleigh Parde has built a happy life. It just doesn’t happen to include any romantic relationships. While she might be fine with that, it’s all anyone can talk about on her high school reunion’s message board. Especially with her ex leading the charge and stirring the pot.

Wanting to shut them up once and for all, Haleigh sets out to get a date for her reunion. Only she’s rusty. Very rusty. So she enlists the date of a handsome dating app developer. A very handsome dating app developer.

With her determination and his tutelage, Haleigh sets out to land the perfect date. Only, he might be closer than either of them ever imagined.

From the award-winning author of Playing House and Let It Be Me, Counting on You is romantic women’s fiction about what happens when you take a chance on yourself and love to make your own happily ever after.

Fun Meet-Cute

This story was cute in all the best ways. The characters were funny, entertaining, and relate-able. I always love a book with socially awkward characters, they always make me think of myself!

The narrator wasn't bad but is not who I would have chosen for this book. If the narrator would have put more emotion in her voice, I think that would have changed things.

Great romance!

I really enjoyed this book. A sweet little romance. I was pulling for Haleigh and Ian from the beginning. I'm hoping for a book 2 in the series! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great Book

Counting on You: Amarillo Sour, Book One was a great read by Laura Chapman. Haleigh is a math teacher who doesn't want to change her single status until she gets an invitation to her class reunion. Her ex has decided to spread rumors about her and now she needs to find a new date. She decides to go on a blind date at Amarillo Sour, a bar that Ian is at. Ian is an app developer of a new dating app and offers to help her after he sees her crash and burn on a date. I absolutely loved reading Haleigh and Ian's story and can't wait to read more by the author.

Such a sweet listen!

This story has themes I think we can all relate to—wanting to forget a painful past, healing a broken heart, feeling like you’re never good enough and just wanting to be loved for exactly who you are. This story has it all and more and Rebecca Hansen’s bright and cheerful voice helped make this listen a lot less emotionally painful for me than if I’d read it.
There are supporting characters who are downright horrible in their behavior towards the main characters and I could feel my blood boil whenever they appeared in a scene! Rebecca infused them with just the right amount of attitude to portray them accurately without being over-the-top in her performance.
This is a really enjoyable sweet romance and I look forward to reading and listening to more from both the author and narrator!

Life doesn’t always go the way you planned

Haleigh is amazing even if at time she doesn’t think so. Her one and only boyfriend left her and spread rumors about her. 10 years later their high school reunion is coming up and he is up to the same games. Haleigh decides to find a date to put some of the rumors to rest. She ends up testing a new dating app and the games begin. I really enjoyed this story and found it sweet and refreshing. I was lost in the story and narration.

Simple, Perfect Love

Counting on You is a must listen. I loved the fact Haleigh was so down to earth and not afraid to let her geek show. So many of us can relate to her “problem” in the book. Living in a small town I so get it.

This story hooked me in and kept there as it unfolded. Counting on You is a sweet, clean romance, but also so much more. This story just goes to show you can find love in the most unexpected places. You just never know.

Clean, fun romance

Haleigh is unmarried and trying to find a date to take to her 10 year high school reunion. She is not looking for a boyfriend. She goes to the local bar, Amarillo Sour, which is like Cheers. There she meets Ian who is creating a dating app and wants her to try it out basically for a test run. Ian agrees to guide and help her so she agrees. This book deals with her insecurities and how Ian really helps her. I think many people have these same insecurities. This is a clean sweet romance. Sometimes people find romance when they are not looking for it.

The narrator does an excellent job of bringing the reader right into the story. I received this Audible book in exchange for an honest review. I must say I like books with more erotic scenes, but I totally enjoyed this book and the characters in it. I highly recommend it.

Loved It!

The first time around I was charmed. The second time around I was emotional. The third time I fell in love. Laura Chapman makes every time feel like a new experience. Counting on You is hard to put down, no matter how many times I read or listen to it. Less than perfect proved to be the perfect match for the romantic in me. I loved it.

Counting On You

I liked the story line for this book it was unique in a lot of ways. It was also a very sweet and clean romance. Haleigh's 10 year high school reunion is coming up. She doesn't want to go but after her ex-boyfriend broke up with her at the beginning of college and claimed she was crazy as his excuse her entire class will know that if she doesn't show up it is because of embarrassment and humiliation. Now her coworkers are encouraging her to find a date for the reunion. The problem is that Haleigh hasn't dated since she broke up with her ex all those years ago. One thing leads to another and Haleigh gets roped into beta testing an online dating app, she will give her account of using the app and going on 12 first date from beginning to end the app developer, Ian. In return for Haleigh's help Ian will give her dating advise and if she doesn't find someone to attend the reunion with her, Ian will go as her date. What could go wrong. Of course after spending so much time together and getting close, they realize that maybe they don't need the app after all.

What I didn't like was that both Haleigh and Ian are such pushovers. Everyone walks all over them, and does what they want without any retaliation from either one. The only time they do push back is at each other, which causes a big blow up and misunderstanding. Glad they finally found their backbones even if it wasn't till the very end.

Clean and Sweet

This was definitely a clean and sweet romance. I like the two main characters but hate how the reunion feels immature. The plot was different and fun. I like that she needs help but seems odd that she hasn't dated in 10 years. That's a pretty high number. The narrator did a great job portraying perfect voices for the characters. Good performance.

Sweet, fun and so cute

This story was so sweet and fun loving. I actually listened to it while lying in bed with the most horrible flu. It made me feel so much better. The narrator was pretty good and voiced the characters with charm. I live the bar scenes, I wish I could have an Amarillo Sour Bar in my hometown. With similar characters. Great story. Totally worth a credit.

Made my day

I loved this book it kept me company on a long journey and made my day. It was bright, funny, sweet and addictive.
The characters were great, so well written and read. They had such different personalities and foibles.
I actually think this would make a great chickflick! The online dating subject matter is hilarious and touching.

An easy recommendation

Good start to a series

Thank you to Rebecca Hansen for providing me with a free audiobook in return for an honest review.

Math teacher Haleigh is unlucky in love and desperate to find a date for her upcoming school reunion after hearing her ex-boyfriend trash talk about her and being determined to prove him wrong. After a blind date fails she meets Ian, the developer of a new dating app who wants to test his product.

This was an interesting storyline, I really liked character Hayleigh - I can usually relate with the socially awkward characters. I did like how she had a hidden sense of humour. Ian was quite a likeable character too, especially as the story went on and the bond between the two began to grow.

Narrator Rebecca Hansen did a great job of this story.
