Publisher's summary

One of the main reasons that animal shelters and rescue shelters are so packed with animals is because people take on more than they bargained for when they get a pet without doing the proper research on that particular breed beforehand.

This guide gives listeners insight on the common breeds of cat that many people find themselves quite happy with and what criteria should determine what kind of feline companion you should be looking for. Without this information, you are taking a risk getting a cat that you are not happy with and sending it to a pet shelter or being stuck with that cat for the rest of its life because you feel too guilty to get rid of it.

This book will help you know what items are necessary for your cat to feel comfortable in its new home, how to feed your new cat, and how to deal with many of its behaviors. Many who decide to buy a kitten find themselves completely unprepared once they get it home. This book will help prepare you in advance so that you will be able to transition smoothly as your kitten grows into a full-grown adult cat.

There is a wealth of information in this book that you will be able to refer to in years to come. There is information on feeding habits for your feline, how to groom your cat, how to travel with your cat, how to understand your cat, and how to discipline your cat. What's really great is that each chapter contains many tricks and suggestions that might make life a little easier for you and your cat, especially if this is the first time you have ever owned a pet of the feline persuasion.

Doing research before bringing an animal home is a smart idea; this book has done all the work for you by combining a variety of topics all into one resource. Don't waste your time searching for answers to your cat questions when you can find everything you need within this one book.

A basic book about cats

I've been wanting a cat ever since I was in my twenties, about 15+ years ago and have read books about them but I never did get a cat. I've finally decided to get a cat and have decided that a little refresh wouldn't hurt so I got this book with a coupon I had.

The book is short and simple, it describes a few cat breeds although only the most popular ones and not a complete list. It helped looking at their images on the internet while listening to the book.
Besides that there are a few basic instructions and a list of things that you should get, how to get a cat, what type, pure breed or from a shelter etc.

There was one thing that I didn't know, that you either get a cat scratch post or trim or cats nails.
There are no tips in the book even a simple one about a cat carrier so I'll give this tip: when getting a cat you'll need a cat carrier in case you need to take him to the vet.

DO NOT let the cat associate the cat carrier with ONLY the vet. Try to keep the cat carrier around the house (maybe to sleep or rest in?) or use it to carry the cat to other places (family or to walk in a park?) because if the cat associate the cat carrier with a vet. worst case scenarios includes him running to hide, scratching and hissing, that's a worst case scenario though and most cats will not do or behave this way.

If you want a cheap, short and a quick book this is the book for you.
If you want a more comprehensive book, I couldn't find any at the time I bought this book. Either new books came out or try a normal paper book because there are plenty of those.

And good luck with your cat or kitten.
