    "Outstanding Performance by Martin Jarvis!!"

Martin Jarvis is an excellent narrator! This is a wonderful tale, and very long novel to listen to, To thoroughly enjoy it, you need to settle in to a narrator that has keeps you engaged. Martin Jarvis does this to perfection. His different voices of the characters are all unique and "performed" so very well. His energy level throughout the novel is inspiring. I can hardly imagine the countless hours of preparation required to read this 34 hour novel so flawlessly. You will love this reading of David Copperfield.

    "What a joy!"

I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful classic. The narrator is a master. It is hard to stop listening and this is certainly a book that I will listen to more than once. I will be looking for more books read by Martin Jarvis.

    "Unbeatable"

If there has ever been a better reader than Martin Jarvis I haven't found one and if there was ever a better suited book for him than Copperfield I haven't heard it. The great characters come leaping out of the I-Pod and once you've heard him do Micawber, Uriah Heep, Aunt Betsy, Murdstone, Traddles et al you can never imagine them any other way. Dickens used to do public readings of his books - if Jarvis had been around he'd have paid him to do it for him. Glorious stuff.

Reading is one of my great loves, but as a busy mum to 4, I seldom have the time to sit down with a good book. Audible changed that for me.

    "Perfection"

My favourite of all the Dickens books, and Martin Jarvis is indeed the master of narration. I was sorry when this audio book ended. The characters come alive under the skill of the writer and the skill of the narrator. Loved it so so much!

    "Fabulous!"

Even clocking in at 34+ hours (can you believe it?) I didn't want it to end. I wholeheartedly agree with the other reviewers that say Martin Jarvis is hands-down the best reader of Dickens around. He's certainly the best I've ever heard. As a point of comparison, I love Jim Dale's reading of the Harry Potter books, and Mr. Jarvis rivals (or perhaps even bests) him. Wonderful story, wonderful reader. Who could ask for more?

    "Needs a point."

I'm not a literary genius and maybe I don't have any right to slam on a classic piece of literature but I felt that a memoir of my own life would have been more exciting than this. Dickens has a very unique style that was generally pleasing to listen to but I felt that there was a lot of verbiage to describe nothing. Nothing happens in this book. The climax was so anti-climatic that I didn't realize it was the climax until the book was done! I'd pass on this one given a chance.

    "Just Wonderful"

The story is enchanting enough, but Mr. Jarvis' reading and voices make it just splendid. This reader is very glad to have listened to rather than read this classic and gives this version an unqualified endorsement. Excellent!

"A Book Reading or a Performance?"

Charles Dickens wrote a wonderful tale in "David Copperfield," but the reader of this book has turned it into a vivid performance with his voice. The variety of characters he creates with his inflections, dialects, and pitch are wonderful to hear. I heartily recommend this reading!

    "AWESOME"

What a wonderful story. Mezmerising characters. I listened to the entire story without pausing unless absolutely necessary. I made sure my pants had pockets in which to carry my zune with me at all times. Did not want this book to end. The narrator was one of the best I have listened too.

"Good literature, but upsetting for some"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

Dickens is a master writer, of course, but about 1/4 way through the book I just had to put it down... the depictions of corporeal punishment and psychological cruelty were just too much for me.

    "Magical!"

My husband is a Dickens fan but I have never managed to get very far with it. I heard someone on the radio talking about audiobooks V books and they recommended listening to Dickens rather than reading him. My better read friends at work recommended David Copperfield and the rest is history. Martin Jarvis is a fantastic reader and brought all the characters to life superbly. Who knew Dickens had a sense of humour......? Not me!!!! Marvellous, highly recommended, especially if you have always avoided Dickens in print.

    "Hilarious"

Many years ago a friend told me that they read Dickens as his books were very funny. My exposure to Dickens had been on TV and this did not add up. Upon hearing the full book brought alive by the excellent Martin Jarvis, I have not enough praise for the man. Dickens brings characters alive, creating personalities that expose credible caricatures of the sorts of traits seen in everyday life. Send the Dickens omnibus into space so that Aliens can know us

    "Great story, brilliant narration"

This classic Dickens is bought wonderfully to life by the excellent narrator. All the very many characters are given exactly the right tone and expression - David himself is always boyish and full of life, Uriah Heep is perfectly odious and creeping and the homly voices of Mr Peggerty and Ham are a delight to listen to. I've listened to many audiobooks, but have never finished one having so high a respect for the talents of a narrator.

    "Absolutely fantastic"

This was a absolute joy to listen to - Martin Jarvis is an incredible narrator managing to sustain a large number of characters with voices that, for me, were completely true to character - his voice is so versatile. The enormous pleasure of Dickens for me is how the mid-nineteenth century is brought to life, you feel completely involved in the characters' lives and although it can be a little lacking in subtlety at times - I don't care - it's just a great story!

    "Digestible"

A very easy way to get through the book. I love reading but often struggle with Dickens, this is an easy way to get through it and the narration is also very good, so good you don't really notice it and are simply engaged in the story.
