Publisher's summary

With her death foretold, Althea Zoltaire only has three years to become what she’s always dreamed of being: a warrior legend. Women are forbidden to wield blades, so she has trained in secret her entire life. Now racing against the clock, she fights to secure her place in the elite guild charged with the protection of the five kingdoms.

The sparring and hazing of the new trainees border on deadly, but even more dangerous is her growing attraction to Wilder Hawthorne, her unwilling warrior chaperone. All around them, schemes are afoot and darkness looms.

Will Althea pass the perilous initiation test and take her place as a champion of Thezmarr—or will the invading evil snatch away her dream before it starts?

Blood & Steel is the gripping first book in the heart-pounding, epic romantic fantasy series, The Legends of Thezmarr.

Slow burn

The process in this book. Thea is probably one of the most brave women/characters I have ever read through everything. She tries to persevere and complete the task that she wants to complete in her young life add in Hawthorne, and it warms your heart to know in to see the development of the characters within this book. I can’t wait to read the next!

Loved the Intrigue

This was a truly captivating storyline following on the heels of Slaying the Shadow Prince and setting up another strong storyline.

Narrators are AMAZING

The narration makes this audiobook what it is. The story is easy to follow and enjoyable overall. I did get sick of certain things appearing again and again, but if you like basic fantasy romance, this will check boxes for you.

EVERYTHING

What does one say when they’ve read such an amazing book that all they want to do is scream??? The world building throughout this book was immaculate. The side characters are freaking bomb. The FMC is a strong badass fighting against oppression and evil creatures. The MMC is a hunky hottie war leader who could kill you with a flick of his pinky finger. Yes, just the one pinky finger. I screamed many times. I laughed many times. And I was to the point of tearing up. And I haven’t cried because of a book since the ending to Allegiant. If you liked Divergent or Fourth Wing, you will LOVE this book.

Strong FMC and captivating story

I absolutely loved this book. I honestly waited to finish the first one until 2 came out because I knew I'd hate the waiting, lol. Thea is a badass and is truly so captivating. I love how her relationship evolves with Wilder. it's truly a great story and has the wonderful enemies to lovers to enemies trope 💕

Hits all the fantasy romance tropes I loved

This book is great, especially for those that love series like ACOTAR or The Serpent and Wings of Night or Dark Window. Hits all the romance tropes I’m a sucker for with a rockin’ female lead.
