Critic Reviews

"Hauntingly beautiful... Anyone who loves great, human stories, true life adventure, Alaska, or social commentary of life in the early 1900s will love this book." (The Joy of Booking)

Narrator left a lot to be desired

One of the best books of this time but read by a very monotone lady.

Learned so much! Real life, reality, not glossed over. Lots of comparisons with the American south. I had no knowledge of other cultures with such pregedices as we had in the American south, now I see it.

One of my all time favorite books.

I've read this story three times now, and each time is like the first. Not the best narrator reading it, but worth the read for sure.
