Publisher's Summary

The New York Times best-selling biography of an American comedy legend.

After three years of sobriety, Chris Farley's life was at its creative peak until a string of professional disappointments chased him back to drugs and alcohol. He fought hard against them, but it was a fight he would lose in December 1997. Farley's fans immediately drew parallels between his death and that of his idol, John Belushi. Without looking deeper, however, many failed to see that Farley was much more than just another Hollywood drug overdose. In this officially authorized oral history, Farley's friends and family remember his work and life. Along the way, they tell a remarkable story of boundless energy, determination, and laughter that could only keep the demons at bay for so long.

Critic Reviews

“the newly released audiobook edition of The Chris Farley Show, an oral biography co-edited by Farley’s brother Tom and journalist Tanner Colby, is full of reminders of how close he had already come to a mid-career breakthrough. (Salon)

Incredibly sad....

This book, while being a very insight and beautiful look into the life of Chris Farley, is more of a three-part eulogy. It will make you laugh but sits under a cloud of despair while it does it. Finished it in three days because even in death and through others' stories, Chris Farley is still someone that can grab and hold your attention.

I miss chris

Chris was an amazing performer and person. You can hear it in the stories. Addiction is a terrible disease and hopefully those that listen to this will learn more about chris and addiction. If you are an addict please get help. Don't go out like chris did.

Entertaining but sad

Worth a listen. Behind the scene of his demise but illustrated with humour and kindness. You will enjoy this book.

a necessary story

What an amazing tribute to Chris Farley! It was a privilege to discover more about this talented man who made the world laugh with him. The personal stories help me appreciate more, what a great loss his family has endured.

Sad. Beautiful. Nostalgia.

There's a fine line between Comedy and Drama. This is one of those books that kinda changes you after you read it.

Wow, an awesome book

For someone who loved Tommy Boy and all his work on SNL, this book was a great read. I recommend it to anyone who has a love for Chris Farley...

Great story

Sad but true story about how addiction kills the addict & wounds those he loves. Narration was a bit scattered & tough to follow sometimes.

Book of quotes

This is a compilation of notes and quotes from interviews with friends and family. It makes for a tough listen because you are constantly barraged with the names of the people. Probably much better as a kindle or physical read.
