Publisher's Summary

Explore the rise of Adolf Hitler.

Was Hitler, as Ian Kershaw asked, a natural consequence of German history, or an aberration? Not that Hitler had been in hiding, waiting to attack. The Führer had actually been following an aggressive and savage foreign policy for almost 10 years, and been named Man of the Year by Time magazine in 1938.

This is not an audiobook about World War II, but about the man, Adolf Hitler, one of the faces and names that still arouse the strongest feelings - repulsion, resentment, and even fanaticism - but one who also had a childhood and a youth, a father and a mother. It is the road to madness - beginning that day in August of 1934 when he took over absolute power and ordered allegiance and loyalty to him alone - that this book is about.

Some of the topics covered in this audiobook include:

  • Hitler's origins
  • His inception
  • The anti-Semitic capital of Europe
  • Munich
  • First World War
  • Hitler's ascension
  • Mein Kampf
  • His downfall
  • The remains of Adolf Hitler
  • And a great deal more that you don't want to miss out on!

Excellent and speed narration. Understand that anybody can be anything if strongly bond with any policy weather justice or injustice, love or brutal. Personal psychology of a leader should not affect the people.

Insightful

Any additional comments?

It is a good definite and insightful peek into the life and rule of the most terrible leader of the 20th century. He killed, shot hanged maimed poisoned thousands of people for any number of flimsy reasons.

Extraordinary book.

This is an extraordinary book and a gripping read. The subject is of course horrific but, for all that, fascinating. The reason is that the book reveals in greater detail than I have ever before read the full humanity of a human monster. The Hitler we come to know in the course of this 900 pages is in many ways quite intelligible and even a person we could all relate to positively or sympathetically in one way or another.

Enjoy and come to your own conclusions!

If you are a person of sufficient intellect to question the standard explanation given to the mindless masses as to the motivations, principals and validity of Adolf Hitler, then this is the book for you. It is a book of unparalleled detail, giving the reader all the information needed to come to their own informed decision on the catalysis for the most extraordinary event in human history, WWII. It refreshingly omits the standard political slant of the evils of the Nazi regime, in favor of the democratic philosophy of allowing the facts to speak for themselves. Enjoy and come to your own conclusions!

Very educational.

This book gives glimps in the mind of this leader. misguided as one may think he was, we have worst leaders in our current time. Just read this book and you will see the same in some of our present fearless leader giving rise to the former followers.

This is one of the best for me.

One of the best biographies I've ever read. Tries to look at one of the most reviled men in history in an objective manner, without downplaying the crimes he perpetrated. Looks at Hitler as a man, however flawed (though that's an understatement) without making him into some cartoon supervillain.

Wonderful book for history buffs!

Even if you have read many books on WW2, as I have, this book will give you a clearer view of how the Nazi party, and Hitler in particular, took over a country that had been destroyed in many ways during and after the first World War. Adolf Hitler took defeat and turned it around mostly by his dynamic personality and spoken work. I was shocked to learn that Adolf Hitler in the late 1930's was respected though out the world and was headed to become one of the most influential man of the century. All that changed quickly, as we all know, but up to the bitter end most Germans still respected him and were lead to believe that he could change defeat into victory by allying his country with the British so together they could defeat Stalin and Communism. The many times he came very close to being assassinated embolden him to become the tyrant of the 20th century.

This audio book is full of amazing information.

Hitler was a complex man with strong ideas. His service in WWI was more involved than I was aware. His hatred was pure evil. His control over his followers was understandable in the beginning; however his followers turned out to be typical of the privileged few that are weak willed, crave power, privilege and wealth. This book revealed a more complete portrait of AH.

Learned a lot from listening to this audible.

Perhaps the most interesting thing this book can do is make Hitler a real person and explain how and why he became, well, "Hitler." Evil? Certainly. Manipulative? Without question. Hateful? His documented words and actions convey it beyond a doubt. But his story is a human story. He was a man with parents, relatives, friends and experiences. His ideology and political ambition grew step-by-step and in a historical context that uniquely allowed for it. That may be instructive for all of us. Such monsters can grow whenever there is a similar convergence of personal ambition and opportunity.

Great information.

I had read so many Holocaust memoirs, and I wanted to learn more of the history of the monster who created the deaths of so many innocent victims. I am glad that I read the biography of Hitler, as it just confirms what a sick person he was, and he is keeping the fires burning in HELL.
