Publisher's Summary

Human history has seen many surprising and profound turning points. Our distant ancestors discovered fire and invented tools. They developed languages and writing. They built shelters, temples, and schools; sometimes warred against each other; and organized complex systems of governance, social organization, and production. Lastly, the ways that humans learned to use raw materials to create activity and resources set the stage for the most compelling and life-altering phase of the modern era, the Industrial Revolution.

Into this exciting historical period, two remarkable men were born. Tied by birth to different continents but connected by similar interests, each indelibly marked their generation and those that followed with their genius and foresight. This audiobook covers the war of currents and the individual lives of Tesla and Edison.

Arduous

The Introduction is long, and then the rest of the book repeats a lot of the same information, seemingly word for word. The book needed some heavy editing. At a couple of points, the narrator is coughing into the mic.

Great story, terrible reader

Great story and information, the reader is just barely better than terrible however. Odd pauses, sniffling and coughing into the microphone, various mispronunciations.

Not what I thought

This was two mini biographies and a SHORT description of the AC/DC conflict. I thought it would be a more detailed discussion of the competition. It wasn’t.

Any additional comments?

I think people need to know more about American history. This is a great start for electricians, people interested in history, or people interested in technology. You get to see and read about the works of Tesla he made remote before the TV was here and just one thing

indoor electricity

Any additional comments?

was such a culture-changing achievement, and altering the picture I had in my head of Edison as the bad guy and Tesla as the good guy - I thought she did a nice job making all characters seems complex and nuanced.

Written in an informal style!!!

Very much enjoyed the human side of a very technical tale. Thought it was written in a very engaging way. Would especially recommend for those who have studied electricity in school, but certainly, electrical knowledge is not required.

Well-Written Book

Any additional comments?

The book is well written and tells of a Telsa that is nearly autistic. Which is a point of view that I had never thought? Edison almost absentminded and egotistical. This is a must-have book.

Very Informative Book

Any additional comments?

I already knew a bit about Tesla and Edison, but only the truly public material. The features in this edition add so much knowledge about their tumultuous association and their careers.
