Publisher's summary

Though Kyria Moreland is beautiful enough to earn the sobriquet "The Goddess" and rich enough to attract London's most sought after gentlemen, she has yet to find love and refuses to marry without it. When she receives a strange package under mysterious circumstances, she is confronted with danger, murder and a handsome American whose destiny is entwined with hers...

Rafe McIntyre has enough charm to seduce any woman, but his smooth facade hides a bitter past. Still, he has seen enough of the world to know Kyria is in danger, and he refuses to let her solve the riddle of this package alone. But even he is mesmerized by the events that unfold as Kyria begins to sort out the mystery put to her by the arrival of a priceless antiquity. Who sent her this treasure steeped in legend? And who is willing to murder to claim its secrets and its glory for themselves?

Contains mature themes.

Not as exciting as book 1, but still intriguing.

Not as "edge of my seat" as the first one. Still a pretty good plot.

Very nice!

Great hero; great heroine; good plot; good adventure; good secondary characters. I liked the independence of the boys and rescuing themselves.
The narrator was not my favorite. I realized about half way through that he had some of the reading problems the female actors do: his voice gets sing-songie at the end of sentences when he’s reading a lot of description. Quite bothersome.

A suspenseful story!

I loved the complex plot, great characterization, and action. Will did a super job with the narration. The sex scenes were entirely unnecessary. The romance could have progressed very well without them.

Eh

I didn't dislike the story. I just found it a bit dull. Perhaps compaa let red to book 1 this tale was down. There was no explanation of second sight from her ancestors as in book 1st, yet the FMC displayed odd insight & dreams... it felt rather copy-catish. I also didn't much care for their love story. Unfortunately, the romantic emotions and sensuality get lost in the tedious descriptions of each inch of anatomy... ugh, I felt like I was in a science lecture half the time.

Irritating and disappointing

I was so happy to find Candace Camp, possibly the closest thing to Georgette Heyer that there is. The first couple books were great. Then Will Thorne took over as narrator. Will has a particular sing-song delivery where he ends every narrative sentence with an emphasis on the last word, going up in register. Once you hear it, you can’t not hear it. It’s too bad as he has a lovely voice, but the Audible editors failed here. I will not purchase any of the books narrated by Thorne, even though I would have loved to hear the stories. Who knows? I might read the print version on my neglected Kindle.
