Publisher's Summary

How well do you really know your best friend?

Kat Grant and Alice Campbell have a friendship forged in shared confidences and long lunches lubricated by expensive wine. Though they're very different women - the artsy socialite and the struggling suburbanite - they're each other's rocks. But even rocks crumble under pressure. Like when Kat's financier husband, Howard, plunges to his death from the second-floor balcony of their South Florida mansion.

Howard was a jerk, a drunk, a bully, and, police say, a murder victim. The questions begin piling up. Like why Kat has suddenly gone dark: no calls, no texts, and no chance her wealthy family will let Alice see her. Why investigators are looking so hard in Alice's direction. Who stands to get hurt next. And who is the cool liar - the masterful manipulator behind it all.

Very, very good!

This is a very character driven, subtlety written psychological thriller. While not as “extreme” as some psych thrillers, there is a good twist at the end. The story kept me interested, and it progressed well, with no “stalled” areas to endure through! The narration was great, also. This is well worth a credit!

Ugh

The story was good, not the best, but good. The narration was horrendous. Sarah Naughton’s sing-songy voice almost made me want to pull my hair out. It was distracting from the actual story. I finished the book, but barely.

Not the best book forever BUT....

it was a really, really good read. The book was very fast-paced and I could not put it down. The author did a great job with character development and the narration was superb. All of the twists and turns came at the end of the book and these plot developments helped differentiate this book from many of the other "best friends" books out there.

Many of the reviewers had commented on the surprise ending so I should not have been surprised....BUT I WAS! . I had been envisioning a different surprise ending and this made me like the book even more.

Although this book was certainly not the best book that I have read on Audible, it was a great read and I highly recommend this title.

Derivative and flat

Another women in peril novel w cardboard characters and an ending you can see from the first page. Decently entertaining.

kinda slow

lots of details about family life. You feel like you know these women or at least met them once in your life. A great twist and almost believable end.

A puzzle of logic

This is a very entertaining story...yeah, you might guess that all is not as it seems, but the ending makes sense. The first-person narrator is a logistician, hence the caption. It all comes together in a twisted way.

good but could have been great

I liked this listen for the most part but the ending (which was actually a neat twist) comes way too fast and I think missed a lot of opportunities to lay groundwork throughout. Will try the author again for sure but will hope for a little more follow through/fleshing out next time!

A book to get lost in...

Listening to the book you feel sorry for Alice and think that someone is definitely setting her up. All she wanted was a little adult companionship outside of her normal everyday suburban life but as the story unfolds and you find out just how twisted Kat is all the things that she will say and do to get what she wants you are convinced that Alice just caught up hanging with the wrong person. The surprise ending will have you second guessing and wanting to go back and re-read just to see if you missed something. The story has enough plot twist and back information to keep you guessing all the way until the end.

I loved it.

OMG that ending!

This book is hard to review, not because I was on the fence about liking it, but because the best part is the ending and I can't give that away! Best Friends Forever captured my attention and held it all the way to the last word. I loved the edgy friendship between the two women, the superb character development, and the narration. Don't miss this epic psychological thriller!

Twists and turns

This book keeps you entertained throughout. A really good read with lots of suspense and empathy for the main character however is it misplaced?
