Publisher's summary

It’s the quiet ones who take you by surprise.

A stand-alone story in the bestselling Six Pack Ranch series by New York Times Best-Selling Author Vivian Arend.

Beth Danube’s emotionally abusive husband is dead and buried. So is her heart. It’s no big deal, she has all she wants: her three little boys and a fresh start in a small Alberta town. After 10 years of unsatisfactory missionary position sex, she certainly never expected her libido to reawaken. Then one look at sex-in-boots Daniel Coleman blows the dust off her sexuality.

Sensing an edge of desperation, even fear, beneath Beth’s come-on, Daniel finds himself giving in to the powerful urge to let his normally restrained desires run wild. The lady wants non-judgmental, non-vanilla sex? She’s got it—in and out of the bedroom.

At first, friends with blazing-hot benefits is more than enough. Then Beth realizes Daniel is burning away the protective fortress around her heart...and the guilty secret she dare not reveal.

Contains: One woman determined to retake control of her life and a man with the single-minded purpose of offering her everything she needs to get there. Inappropriate behavior in barns, change rooms, and oh-my-gawd phone sex with a cowboy.

So sweet listening to this in audible.

AUDIBLE
Thoroughly enjoyable in audible.
Even though I have read this series a few times, having the audible versions is superb.
So sweet listening to this in audible.
The relationship complexities between these five people really comes across.
I was kindly gifted this audible book by the author.
BOOK REVIEW
Cannot believe this is the same series as book 1. Far superior.
Such a complete change of direction from book one.
What Beth had suffered was horrendous but I admired her bravery. She is correct about stating she should have left her abusive husband earlier but easier said than done with young children.
Daniel was a sweetie and such a strong rock that Beth and the boys can lean on into the future.
Loved how the Colemans all rallied around to support Beth and the boys and teach them the true meaning of family.
The little scene at the river was lovely.

Enjoyable

This was a great story that was well developed.
I I found it had plenty of depth and heart to to it.
There was just enough drama to sweetness that it
balance it out just nicely and of course there heat as well.
The narrator was easy on the ears and did a great job of bringing
the characters alive on the pages.

Dirty with Teacher

My heart broke for Beth Danube and her boys so many times. Sadly, only one of her secrets surprised me. And I mean sad, in the fact that I was on the money and they weren't happy secrets, not because they were predictable. They were very believable and a reality for too many.

Domestic abuse is never an easy subject, but I think it was handled well, with the actual events being offscreen. There were several references to the past events, but we were spared the details. I shed many a tear with just what was described.

I loved Daniel Coleman's patience as he and Beth traversed from a potential one-night stand to friends and more to everything.

Another relationship came to a foreseeable conclusion with a BANG. Meanwhile, the biggest secret of all came from an unsuspected source.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Daniel and Beth are fantastic together with a really good balance of friendship and passionate fun.

Like the first book, its primary focus may be on the couple at hand, but many get spotlighted. It's honestly my favorite kind of series, but it does mean you should read in order. 😉

I read along while listening to the audio book. The narrator's Tatiana Sokolov. She continues to do a really good job with the various characters.

Learning What a Loving Relationship Really Is

Rocky Mountain Haven has a better story line than the first book in the series. Daniel Coleman and Beth Danube are both damaged goods. Beth Danube has finally escaped her abusive marriage. Her mental and emotional scars are hidden within her. Daniel Coleman wants something that he couldn't have and that would putting him as a player than a keeper.

At the beginning of the story, Beth has to remain control over her choices. She wanted a control over her a sexual but due to her experience with her husband, she could not help but panic. Through Daniel, she was able to explore her sexuality but ended up knowing that she wanted more than she started with Daniel.

I love the journey that Beth was able to overcome her fear of entering into a loving relationship and that Daniel was able to find what he wanted, a woman and kids to love.

This time, I'm starting to enjoy listening to the narrator, Tatiana Sokolov. She did a better job in narrating this book than the first book.

Great read

I really enjoyed this story! Beth and Daniel are fantastic and I loved her boys. I loved watching Beth and Daniel come together and build something. I loved how Daniel expressed he wanted her and happy to help her explore the non vanilla side of things but that he also wanted them to become friends, that he wanted more and would take the friends and building that relationship first but that it was more than just physical. He was so great with Beth and her boys naturally. He could read their feelings and see that things were a little off. He created a safe place for them and was so good at it and pushing them just enough, while keeping them safe. This book was an easy one to read and engage with the characters. I really enjoyed it and loved getting to see more of Jaxi and Blake as well as the rest of the Colemans throughout the book as well.
The narrator did a good job with the story and the characters.
