Vigilante or Hero?

It’s a fine line.

In a peaceful North Carolina town, no one ever suspected something sinister was brewing beneath the surface. Walter, a self-proclaimed hero, dreams of solving a major crime but tends to get sidetracked. He doesn’t like lying to his wife, Martha, but sometimes it’s necessary. Disillusioned after years of marriage and bored in her spin cycle life, Martha meets a new friend when she steps out of her comfort zone. They quickly bond over their shared contempt for her friend’s no-good son-in-law. Is their friendship genuine, or is it as phony as the reality tv they both love? When the small town’s dirty laundry is aired, one unorthodox do-gooder proves no task is too small or large to ensure justice is served. As tensions rise, the quirky cast of characters becomes embroiled in a web of deceit and betrayal. No one is above suspicion, and everyone has something to hide. Whose secrets will be revealed when someone ends up dead? Donuts and Deceit is a thrilling mix of humor and suspense with twists and turns as unexpected as a jelly-filled surprise. This small-town whodunnit is a must-listen for anyone who loves Thursday Murder Club and An Elderly Lady Is Up to No Good. Grab a donut (or two), and settle in for a wild ride!

Seemingly slow beginning

I thought this started slow. I was wrong as this book needed to build. This book was so twisted and with a surprise ending I did not see coming. While in the middle of the read you aren't fully aware of the dark undertones. Definitely a post read thought provoking story. Loved it.

Love Surprises.

This book was fun! I liked that the protagonists were older and the dynamics of the neighborhood were interesting. I really enjoyed the female friendship, it was one of my favorite parts. The reveal at the end was a surprise! Looking forward to more by this author.

Vigilante justice has a new face!

Humans are complicated, and P.B. Alden does a wonderful job introducing interesting and multifaceted characters. In addition to the great character development throughout the book, the story moves along nicely and keeps you wondering. A very fun and entertaining book to listen to!

Amazing Page-Turner

I absolutely LOVED this book. It’s so good and I really could not tell what was gonna happen. Literally everyone could have been guilty and I could not predict who. I love that we experience so many details and characters and nothing ever gets lost, it all comes back in the end and wraps up nicely. I was completely SHOOK at the end !!!
The narrators tell this story amazingly. Especially the female narrator, who had a lot of different characters to portray. She knew how to put on an accent or take the personality traits and show them through her voice. Such a well done audiobook!!!
