Publisher's summary

A lone soldier on night watch. A single bullet through the heart. Every light in Paris flickers - the city’s thundering silent scream.

When Commander Raimond Banitierre was assassinated, French Revolutionaries lost their gallant leader. After a villain’s offer of eternal life condemned him to slavery, Raimond rebelled again, driving his vampire comrades to freedom.

Raimond escapes to Savannah, Georgia where his dream of becoming a doctor comes true. During his trial-by-fire residency on the Civil War’s battlefields, he discovers his true calling - the power to preserve memories and dignity in the face of death. His chance meeting with a beguiling mortal nurse ignites passionate nights and a long overdue crack in the door to paradise.

Vicious flames and an unholy miscalculation deliver Raimond back to the depths of hell. Being arrested for treason makes him wish for death and the arrival of Prince Draven Norman appears to be the final nail in Raimond’s coffin. Will the prince’s eccentric judgement grant Raimond a true reprieve? Is Draven’s invitation to join New Orleans mystical royalty an extension of his own treachery, or the next step in Raimond’s miraculous journey?

Has the legendary Crescent City found a spirit noble enough to protect her future?

A different view of A Vampire

Well written and the well narrated in a nut shell it s story of a Vampire but not like any we have read of defore. Most stories you read about vampires they are cruel and blood thirsty not this one named Raimond . Raimond fought in the French Revolution and died with many fellow soldiers but he and and one he called brother was turned after they died and forced in to slavery and and not allowed to live and feed as they pleased or even taught to feed properly with out killing the person.
Now for Raimond you live his story from France to approximately 1936 here in the US like he not the normal vampire in France he teaches the new turned how to survive and live. But in the US he start to learn who he is, what he wants and that he will not kill to feed. He learns love for a women, the horror of the Civil War and the death of soldiers of both sides he finds what he wants and that is a doctor a saver of life not a taker of life.
I highly recommend this audiobook I know you will enjoy it as much as I did

Riveting Prequal

This prequal to Anne Marie Andrus' Monsters and Angels is nothing short of spellbinding. Filled with beautiful historical tidbits, this audio book follows the life of vampire, Raimond Banitierre, and the trials he must suffer as he escapes France, becomes a doctor and eventually arrives in the city of New Orleans. Also, I enjoyed this narrator very much.

Wonderful Story Narration Questionable

The story itself was a very good one. exceptionally creative and a pleasure to get into. However the audio production and narration does not do this story justice. There is a lot of radio static and echo in the background, and the narrator was obviously thrown off with various word pronunciations.
