Kidnappers grabbed Jenna in broad daylight, right in front of her children and their horrified classmates. Her family was issued an insane ransom demand: $25 million in cash and jewels, payable by the end of the school day, otherwise they’ll never see her again. As Jenna’s mother scrambles to gather the money, detectives Mo Butler and George Ortega follow the trail of the kidnappers, which will lead them through a sordid landscape of jealous lovers, broken dreamers, and twisted schemers. But every second counts, and there’s one thing Jenna Wade doesn’t have: very much time.

Story
Blockchain technology could affect governance itself by supporting new organizational structures that promote more democratic and participatory decision making. Primavera De Filippi and Aaron Wright acknowledge this potential and urge the law to catch up. That is because disintermediation - a blockchain's greatest asset - subverts critical regulation. By cutting out middlemen, such as online operators and multinational corporations, blockchains run the risk of undermining the capacity of governmental authorities to supervise activities in banking, commerce, law, and other vital areas.

Blockchain technology has been called the greatest innovation since the Internet. Governments and companies are rushing to implement blockchain technology in a range of areas that could impact every person on the planet within a few years. Is blockchain technology one of the greatest technological revolutions in history, or is it just hype? Will blockchain technology cause governments and banking systems to change the way they process information, or will it be business as usual? In this book we'll look at the answers to these questions along with addressing the different sides of the arguments for and against blockchain technology. Blockchain is not just bitcoin; blockchain technology is much bigger than bitcoin, and it is predicted to change the world.

We're all chained to the unforgiving arrow of time. We're born, we live, and we get old. At least, that's what we hope will happen. Then we die. None of us humans are millionaires in terms of hours, yet we sacrifice our most valuable and scarce asset just to stay alive in the hamster's wheel one more day. Informative
Thanks Alan! This book was an unintimidating tech read on a topic that many would be well-informed to read (hear). In fact, it was so well written that it came across more as a societal information piece than a technology publication. Even the "liberty to skip" techno section was quite tolerable!

Look No Further - This IS The Best Explanation
I had a sense of the term block-chain but didn't fully appreciate it's complexities until the conclusion of this (short) book. When I say this is THE best explanation it is because I tried several (did you know you can try and return titles to Audible?) but none of them are even close to this book. Now I'm completely comfortable with the tech, the definitions, what proof of work means, and so much more. All makes sense and, yes, I see how block-chain can potential impact every element of modern society in a positive way. Worth your time.
