After Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin dropped out of college and launched Bitcoin Magazine, he wrote the Ethereum white paper, which proposed an open source protocol that would take what Bitcoin did for money and do it for everything else: contracts, social networks, and sharing economies. Now, less than a decade later, his idea is valued at about half a trillion dollars, and it is the foundation for the weird new world of NFT artworks, virtual real estate, and decentralized autonomous organizations.

This book is a collection of essays including "On Free Speech," which creates a whole new standard for free speech and how to protect it; "Prediction Markets: Tales from the Election," in which Buterin bets on the Trump-Biden election before and after it was decided, and how the prediction markets help explain the political situation today where so many believe Trump won; and the last essay in the book, "Crypto Cities," where Buterin observes the beginnings already in motion of a future where cities governed through blockchain better serve the public good than governing political institutions do today.

Understanding and engaging with Buterin's ideas will be of growing importance as the consequences of his invention continue to unfold and inspire debate worldwide.

Necessary and especially for Ethereum Devs

This book gave me a lot of the insights I needed to choose Ethereum over other blockchains for Decentralized app development. It’s good to hear from the man himself.

Awesome book filled with gems.

The best intro to crypto

No one in crypto is more thoughtful than Vitalik Buterin. His essays provide a technical, practical and philosophical guide to blockchains and the crypto currency space. Those new to the space, as well as builders and academics will find a pellucid account of how we have reached the current moment in crypto and a compelling roadmap to where we are going.

Unbearable narration

If you like YOUR books narrated buy a voice ACTOR who was TRAINED to modulate his voice to AVOID sounding monotonous but who CLEARLY is not understanding the sentences he is READING then you will find NEITHER his reading style nor my similarly styled REVIEW annoying. As for me, I FOUND it highly distracting to CONTINUALLY restate his sentences in MY head with the emphasis PROPERLY adjusted. Worst narration by far of my 60+ Audible audiobooks so far. Whoever approved this production needs some frank feedback.

Not for ppl who are already in crypto.

The book was great and Ethereum is the most interesting thing I'm invested in, but if I can be picky. If you are already in crypto there's nothing to learn here, this is for beginners, the book is a compilation of blogs
