With the mystery of the monsters and the Shadowscape growing deeper every day, Gryff and his friends have been split up by Headmaster Sleet and sent to the far corners of the world with one mission: find some ancient ciphers that could end this war once and for all.

Sounds easy enough, right?

Well, it would be except for the rifts that keep opening up on top of them, the mercenaries that want them dead, and, oh yeah, a murderous, monster angel that is seeking to bring about the end of the world as Gryff knows it.

I thought this latest book in the series was an easy listen. characters are consistent and still a bit unpredictable. the mc doesn't come off as all powerful and arrogant. he is a manwhore surrounded by the most understanding women in any world. the narrator has a cadence that makes you not drift away.
overall worth the credit if you enjoyed the previous books in the series

I've been a fan of this series since it first came out. Every book in this series has kept me fully engaged and entertained. Joshua Story does a great job once again bringing the characters to life. I am impatiently waiting for book 6 to come out so that I can devour it in one night then wait for the audio book so I can enjoy it all over again.

Another great listen!

I absolutely enjoy this world. Joshua Story does such a great job that I just can't put it down.

Loving the series

I was sold on the original concept of this series, and so far I've enjoyed the books well enough. The harem aspects feel a bit awkward at sometimes, they could use better timing.

I think these books need longer additions into them after this point. The short and sweet is nice for the core story, but we either need a "half" book or longer books to flesh out some of the lore. There's a lot of stuff we as the reader and Griff as the MC don't seem to really know, with a lot of being thrown at us as we ride.

Past all that, this series has been a good one to pick up in between longer winded series I've been following. Not too fancy on the words, and the author doesn't try to make this more than what it is. Best writing in the world? Probably not. One of the better told stories though? I'd rank it pretty high up there.

Also, Joshua Story is a very talented narrator. He does a great job giving everyone a very distinct and unique voice. Kind of surprised at how good he can portray the women, frankly.

Not amazing, but still good.
