What happens when the cute mountain man you made out with in an ice-fishing shack turns out to be your brother's best friend? A whole lot of awkward, that's what.

Maggie's mind is reeling when she discovers the guy she became tangled up with at Marv's Bait & Tackle isn't a stranger like she thought.

The big snag: Sam and Maggie's chemistry is hot enough to melt ice, which makes keeping their secret far more difficult than either expected. Especially when one of them decides they want this arrangement to be more than just a catch and release.

This was my first Amy Days book but it certainly won't be my last. I at least have to go back to catch up on the previous book in this series as those two were supporting characters for Sam and Maggie's story in this book and I enjoyed all of their interactions. As for the H/h featured in "Next in Line" Sam sounds like the rugged, ginger, outdoorsman fantasy that would make any girl consider the benefits of playing in the dirt. Maggie started out as a bit immature, maybe misguided (but I'll cut her some slack for a case of the heartbreak crazies), wildly romantic, tenacious, fearless and most definitely a young woman on a mission. I admired her tenacity and fearlessness as she worked her way through those heartbreak crazies (cuz which of us hasn't gone a little temporarily bonkers in the name of lurv) to discover her self worth and strength and courage to face change. It's been quite some time since I was 22 but that doesn't mean I don't remember the lessons I learned at that time in life and I felt Maggie's character was true to that experience. I was also amused by the smattering of "old man" jokes in reference to H/h's 9 year age difference, especially as it was so reminiscent of my experience at that age being with someone 11½ years older. The narration by Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton was very well done.

I was completely captivated by Sam and Maggie's forbidden love story right from their very first hilarious and awkward meet cute. Maggie is on the road to win back her college sweetheart after he broke up with her because she is too basic. She has played it safe her whole life, not taking change well. Now she is breaking all her rules trying new and crazy things. Sam is instantly attracted to her innocent idealism and offers to help her win back her ex. Sam doesn't like commitment, but this smart, sweet, and hilarious woman is electrifying his life, and making him break all his rules as well. The more this sweet and sexy Sam helps her, the more she realizes she may want what is right in front of her. No matter how hard they fight their attraction, they have too much fun together, and their chemistry is too explosive to stay away. I loved all the fun experiences they had together. I really enjoyed watching Maggie discover herself as she brings out Sam's sexy, inner cave man. It was also a lot of fun catching up with Kate and Miles, who I absolutely loved from the first book.
This romance was brought to life with the stellar performances by narrators Erin Mallon, and Teddy Hamilton! They captured Sam and Maggie so beautifully from the slightest nuances, hitting all the perfect emotional notes and delivering Daws witty banter flawlessly. Mallon's voice changes are exquisitely distinct and dynamic, drawing me effortlessly into each scene. She really brings out the awe and wonder Maggie feels with all her new adventures, and her struggles from staying true to her plans or embracing what is in front of her. Hamilton brought out the evolution of Sam from rugged loner to a protective, impassioned lover, embracing Maggie and all her crazy dreams. He had my heart racing with his revelations that Maggie adding spark back into his life, and his fervent fight for her love.
Ms Daws created another refreshing, hilarious & heartfelt story with fascinating characters, witty banter, and steamy passion and Mallon & Hamilton's performance made it even better! I love this series so much and can't wait for more from these sexy men at Tire Depot!

I loved this book! It had me smiling from the start when Sparky and Sam first meet and laughing at the end with the "master baiter"! Sometimes what you think is your destiny or your perfect ending is completely off from reality. And that's how it was in this book for both of them. She was so set in her vision of a future, she nearly missed her perfect ending that was standing right in front of her. I loved Sparky and Sam's relationship and how it developed. They both brought out sides of each other they didn't know were there. Not only did they have fun together, but they had intense chemistry. I would definitely recommend this book. Worth the money and the listen.

Kept me smiling! 5 stars!
