Atlantis Snoozes

I really hate to leave negative reviews, but this story is just not for me. Cartwright attempts many twists and surprises, but at such regularity that none of them become impactful. An example might be that right after saving their boat from one threat, the backup threat succeeds in destroying it. Which, truth be told, is often the exact same plan as the previous, just hidden better. Sam Reilly is just another generic action hero with no personality, but on the bright side, at least Reilly's man pain is from the death of his brother, as opposed to the death of a woman, which usually occurs in action media. (See: Kyle Raynar/Green Lantern)

Worldwide Search

This is filled with things that are right up my alley. Secrets, deception and a whole lot of mystery, plus a worldwide search for that one crutial artefact. I had a lot of fun listening to this title. It incorporated some ancient history from different parts of the world. The author did a good job mingling these aspects. This can be read as a stand alone but it should be noted that it is actually the 3rd book in a series. At points, I could tell that I had missed some little facts or hints from previous books but did not hurt/ effect my listening experience too much. It is best described as more action with medium landscape description and light explaination of old characters. I really liked the adventure in this audiobook and, to me, almost felt like a national Treasure sort of story only different. One thing that I thought could have been done differently is that I felt that the characters always seemed to find an easy solution when some struggle would have been attention grabbing. It seemed like the main characters were friends with the most wealthy and powerful people. They always had the newest and perfect equipment for the job. Again, this is my personal feeling but this all around was a really action packed and enjoyable listen for me. The narration was done well. This was my first performance by this narrater and he kept my attention. At times I felt like the pace could have been quickened or the pitch of his voice changed to give that scene just a little something extra, but overall a job well done. This audiobook has made me want to explore others in the series in the future. I was given a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review via Audiobook Boom. This in no way affected my opinion of this work.

Interesting!

Second Sam Reilly book that I have listened to. Enjoyed, very light listening, predictable plot with a few twists thrown in there. Worth both the credit and the listen. Will follow this series.

An Exciting Race for Atlantis

Book three in the Sam Riley series was as much fun as The Mahogany Ship. After all, who isn’t curious about Atlantis? Different forces are after its secrets this time, but its power may be out of their control. If they don’t find it within the next three weeks, the disaster will affect all.

Billy Swan rushes for answers, Sam Riley searches for the kidnapped Billy. There are multiple players that have their own secrets. All the twists lead to a surprising ending. It’s an exciting adventure that will definitely entertain you.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review. You can find my full review at Mystery Suspense Reviews.

Action Adventure and Intrigue

What a wonderful book! I loved the action, adventure and twists. The storyline was original and yet unrealistic. I have always been intrigued by Atlantis, so I was immediately pulled in. Christopher Cartwright and David Gilmore are a wonderful combination. They really compliment each other with their talents. The author weaves an incredible story with historical facts, incredible imagery and an awesome imagination. The narrator delivers great characters and adds to the suspense. This book is a standalone listen and part of a series. I will definitely listen to more books by both author and narrator. This was time well spent listening.

Brilliant

Let me first say I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This is a brilliant adventure story, and in book 3 the characters have developed depth and charisma. The writing is fast paced with never a dull moment, full of action. There are a few twists in the story.
Narration by David Gilmore is perfectly matched to the storyline and characters, his voice is clear and easy to listen to. Audio quality is excellent.
Best in the series so far, I highly recomend it to lovers of adventure stories.

Awesome adventure and intrigue!

Atlantis Stolen
Sam Reilly, Book 3
By: Christopher Cartwright
Narrated by: David Gilmore
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
I love the Sam Reilly series. This is another good one. Secret societies, danger, adventure, intrigue, thrills, and lots of action. Plenty of twists and turns to keep me guessing but enough knowledge to enjoy the whole story.
The narrator is great at keeping the flow going smoothly and the excitement level just right! Great job! Love these books!

Sam Reilly wins again

I was provided with a free copy of this audiobook in return for an honest review.

I am very grateful to Ashton at the publishing group as he was able to provide me with free copies of the Sam Reilly novels from 1 to 5 in exchange for my honest opinion. This means that I got to listen to each of the instalments in order and follow Sam's adventures right through.

As with the first two books The Last Airship and The Mahogany Ship, I was gripped from the start with this one. Like a lot of people who are interested in history, the idea of Atlantis intrigues me and I love to hear different ideas about where it was and what they had that made people remember them.

Christopher has managed to make Atlantis seem real to me, even though I know it is just fiction. When that happens you know the author you are reading has given you a great experience. The addition of kidnapping, the ancient architects, bad guys who may be good guys, good guys who may be bad guys, a lost tribe in Central Africa and the location of Atlantis being discovered where it was all leads to a fantastic thrill ride that I listened to in two sittings.

I've realised that I didn't mention the narrator in my previous review and I can remedy that now. David Gilmore reads all the Sam Reilly books I have. Narrators are incredibly important to audiobooks, they can ruin the story if they're bad, they can enhance the story if they're good, and if they're great (David you are this one) you barely notice that you are being read to, and you lose yourself in the story. I have great admiration for this narrator as I barely noticed his reading, I just enjoyed the whole book.

I've already downloaded book for and I intend to listen to that immediately.

This is awesome! Brilliant story and characters

From the first few seconds in we are thrown into a great action thriller. The pace never lets up and I really like the characters. From our mysterious Billionaire who has his own submarine and a newly acquired female archaeologist who has all the answers (or most of the them) to the puzzle that is Atlantis to Sam and Tom our cool male heroes and even the Phoenix Brotherhood. They are all great. The story roars along and takes us all over the world. I love the ideas the author brings to Atlantis and this lost civilisation that spanned the world but fell/was written out of history. It dips into past historical cover-ups of the artefacts and cities which is really great too. From start to finish I was entertained and swept along for the ride.

I'm looking forward to jumping into the next book because this one is brilliant.
