Publisher's summary

After almost sixty years as an actor, William Shatner has become one of the most beloved entertainers in the world. And it seems as if Shatner is everywhere. In Up Till Now, Shatner sits down with listeners and offers the remarkable, full story of his life and explains how he got to be, well, everywhere.

It was the original Star Trek series, and later its films, that made Shatner instantly recognizable, called by name—or at least by Captain Kirk's name—across the globe. But Shatner neither began nor has ended his career with that role. From the very start, he took his skills as an actor and put them to use wherever he could. He straddled the classic world of the theater and the new world of television, whether stepping in for Christopher Plummer in Shakespeare's Henry V or staring at "something on the wing" in a classic episode of The Twilight Zone. And since then, he's gone on to star in numerous successful shows, such as T.J. Hooker, Rescue 911,and Boston Legal.

William Shatner has always been willing to take risks for his art. What other actor would star in history's first—and probably only—all-Esperanto-language film? Who else would share the screen with thousands of tarantulas, release an album called Has Been, or film a racially incendiary film in the Deep South during the height of the civil rights era? And who else would willingly paramotor into a field of waiting fans armed with paintball guns, all waiting for a chance to stun Captain...er, Shatner?

In this touching and very funny autobiography, William Shatner's Up Till Now reveals the man behind these unforgettable moments, and how he's become the worldwide star and experienced actor he is today.

"It is now Bill Shatner's universe—we just live in it."---New York Daily News

Excellent accompaniment for a boring commute

So much fun listening to Bill Shatner during my daily work commute. Great story teller. Made me feel like I was right there I the moment with him. Enjoyed his self deprecating humor with a touch of arrogance...classic! Highly recommend!

Surprising, unusual!

For me, Shatner will always only be Captain Kirk, and yet the rest of the book worked, very well actually. The most poignant chapter was his very heartfelt accounting of the tragedy of his third marriage, very sad but told in a way that others can benefit. I did not know Nimoy had that problem to beat as well. I'll never read this one again, but glad I did it once. By the way, I have found celebrities reading their own books generally problematic and not entertaining for reasons unknown. Shatner's narration however was superb!

a wonderful journey through a life well lived

this book is a wonderful sharing of a most interesting life filled with struggle, joy, sadness, horror and love. I have enjoyed The Shats work for years and knowing the back story just sweetened the cake... I am in the process if watching Boston Legal for the second time...WHAT A HOOT!!!

Hilarious-Witty-Intelligent-Insightful

Don't deny yourself the pleasure of listening to this book! I have never seen the author in a movie or on television except for his "Rocketman" performance. I loved it! But as an avid reader of memoirs, this is at the top of the list! A beautiful mind.

WILLIAM SHATNER AND I ARE CLOSER THAN EVER

Where does Up Till Now rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Only read books, this was my first audiobook and it was fantastic. I chose the autobiography of William Shatner because I love the sound of his voice. I was not disappointed.

Who was your favorite character and why?

It was an autobiography of William Shatner. Mr. Shatner brought his wit and humor to this book and hearing rather than reading it brought it to life.

Which scene was your favorite?

His entire life "up till now"

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The Real William Shatner - No Holds Bar

Any additional comments?

I would hear his story in the quiet of night. Closing my eyes and listening, it was as if Mr. Shatner was there with me talking about his life.

Surprisingly great!

I remember thinking, do I really want to listen to this for 10 hours? I decided to start, and once started I never really wanted to stop. It's a really good story about a fun guy and a great long career.

laugh, cry, laugh and wonder.

What can you say about a man that pours his soul out for others. Who isn't afraid to share his life and thoughts. Mistakes and struggles are a part of growing. I am glad I took the time to listen to Mr. Shattner, he has shown that no matter what, we are all human.
