Publisher's summary

It’s all about the food….

For the Robertsons, family is typified by the dinner table, where both food and fables are dished up with equal care. Anyone with a good story - whether it be a hunting escapade or one of the children’s antics - is welcome to share. And that’s what this family is all about - sharing, caring for one another, and the love of good food. Chapters are built around recipes that represent each stage of the Robertson life - chapters like...

  • Fried Bologna: Here you’ll get an inside look at what it was like to grow up Robertson before all the fame and money came in. You’ll see the Robertson boys fending for themselves as father Phil was out running nets and selling his newly invented duck calls and matriarch Miss Kay was out working to keep the family afloat.
  • Chicken Strips: In this chapter, Willie and Korie marry when Korie is only 18 - but only after dealing with Korie’s father - and their lives are shaped and prepared to someday take the family business to another level.
  • Duck Gumbo: Just like making great gumbo takes patience and time, so did building a duck dynasty. This chapter tells of Phil’s passion and hard work in sticking with something he believed in and loved doing and how that patience and hard work has paid off.
  • Dumplings, Hot Water Cornbread, and Fried Squirrel: None of the Robertsons would be where they are today if not for Miss Kay. This chapter is all about food, family, and business, and how Miss Kay kept them all laughing through the good times and the bad.
  • Back Straps: Here you’ll learn about Willie’s passion for business, hunting, and friendship, and how all this led to his own company - Buck Commander - and his exciting encounters along the way.
  • Road Kill: The journey to a successful family business and television show has been a long one, with a few bumps in the road. This chapter tells how the family stays together rain or shine and how, as Phil says, they all remain "happy, happy, happy".

An Up-Close View of America’s Favorite Backwoods Family

What do faith, family, ducks, and money have in common? The well-known stars of A&E’s hit show Duck Dynasty - Korie and Willie Robertson! From Louisiana’s bayou comes the story of how the Robertson family went from eating fried bologna sandwiches to consuming fine filet mignon.

Ask anyone in Louisiana, and they’ll tell you that the bayou state’s favorite family doesn’t live in the governor’s mansion but in the backwoods, where the Robertsons’ Duck Commander has become a sporting empire by making top-of-the-line duck calls.

Part redneck logic, part humorous family stories, combined with family-business tips and faith, this book is the inside sneak peek for everything you wanted to know about being a Robertson.

Great insights on the family

If you could sum up The Duck Commander Family in three words, what would they be?

Great behinds the scenes insights on the family. Korie tells her story

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Duck Commander Family?

Some of Willies stories can be found in Phil's book, but this book lets Korie tell her story. You will also learn more about some of the other regular recurring cast.

Any additional comments?

Loved it.

The Best!

So much fun to read. I was raised in the city of Denver Colorado so I couldn't believe what life was like being a Robertson. It was inspiring, funny and most of all entertaining. I loved the fact that the family all loves as the Lord has commanded us to do. God bless and continue to be with the Robertson family.

Great Read

I didn't realize how much Willie and Corrie actually helped get Duck Commander out to the world. I appreciate the insight into their private lives and that they give God the glory.

Unfortunately, Willie has strayed from the beliefs that he claimed in this book. Hoping he finds his way back

thank you for sharing!! loved reading about them!!

There were many more details of the Duck Dynasty family in this book that I didn't see by watching their family on TV. I loved hearing how their stories have unfolded and about each sibling. Most importantly, their faith in Christ and with him their unconditional love for each other. Thank you so much!

Maybe A Bit Much On The Faith, But Overall Solid

If you’ve ever watched a single episode, or more preferably.. a few for context sake, then you all ready know who Willie “Boss Hog” Robertson & his wife Korie are. If not, then I’m afraid that you may have missed out on one of the very few, if only really non scripted.. IMO reality tv shows that there are. The name Duck Commander has been well known & synonymous with duck hunting for what I can tell is quiet a while. It all started with the patriarch Phil Robertson, a former Louisiana football player who, if not for his love of duck hunting & the outdoors would be one of the highly regarded QB’s of the NFL instead of Terry Bradshaw. Phil started the business & as heard in the book, interviews & such could never have imagined the heights that his son CEO Willie took the company to. The one thing that I believe makes this a little bit of a different autobiography of Duck Dynasty & it’s business Duck Commander is that the fact that this family didn’t have the easiest of go at things ranging from Phil’s drinking days, to the uncertainty of business ventures like buck commander, etc. In my own opinion despite the fact that the Robertson’s may feel a bit much at times when it comes to their faith, in all honesty if it weren’t for people like them & others I think that this world would have just a bunch of people believing the same thing, liking the same thing, wearing the same stuff, etc. Besides, I kind of think that the end prayers at the last few minutes of the show is a nice little closer & watching a bunch of W. Munroe rednecks goof off, get into situations & such instead of actually working. Which.. let’s be honest, would make for a booooring show.
