A chef / restaurateur must.

The book is not only funny and interesting it will well up strong, usable passion.

Maniac hero chef.

I loved reading Marcos tales of the solid hard work that is normal in British kitchens. His drive to be the best and his path getting there were so interesting. Having lived and worked in London in kitchens in the 80's , he shares the truth albeit raw and nasty. This is a great read for anyone going into this profession and people who love food'

Obsession with Michelin stars

Obsession with Michelin stars and with restaurant perfection invades all aspects of this creative person's life. Not a likeable character. Yet we follow his struggles.

Very funny and deeply absorbing-with plenty of great background info on Marco’s life

For me, this book was pure joy from beginning to end. Before reading the book, all I knew about the author was that he was very gifted chef and a screamer in the kitchen. But within the first few pages I was caught up in the story of his upbringing, his training as a chef, and the culinary world he lived in. I laughed out loud in a number of places, and that’s not usual for me, and I learned a ton about cooking and gastronomy. I even got a few cooking tips along the way that I’ll be able to use in the future. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is even moderately interested in food. Bravo, Marco!

Title is somewhat deceiving

Enjoyed this memoir, & my enjoyment increased the longer I listened to it! I expected the main character, Marco, to be a real low-life. Not so! He clearly has a good heart and is a serious self-made man!

Enlightening & Incredibly Motivating

As a chef myself, Chef Marco's story has further inspired me. Chef Marco's upbringing and background resignated with me because my relation to his struggles were similar enough for me to become immersed. His sort of "working class hero" status as a culinary professional was earned and and has motivated me when I needed it.
The performance if the narrator could not have been any better than what Audible delivers in this product as well.
