phenomenal

I will absolutely never stop loving these books. The enormous amount of effort and dedication to create such a captivating storyline that spans eons is so enthralling and entertaining. My Entire Being sings with Joy every single time I read this particular series. (love your other series too) .. Well if any of you read this review all I can say is give it your all as you dive into the lives of many and fall deeper under the spell of Nalini Singh and her Enormous Heart . Such an incredible journey for your Heart and Mind in the Guild Hunter Series.

Liked it!

I enjoyed this story much more than Archangel’s Light, but it wasn’t as good as Archangel’s Sun. The latter being one of my favorite stories from this series besides the ones that feature Elena and Raphael.

I am sure I’ll be among a minority, but I have to say that I’m just tired of the reborn, and everything related to them and Lijuan.

I did enjoy learning about Alexander’s back story. From the time he was a baby to the present - 10 years after Lijuan’s defeat.

My interest in this series is starting to dwindle, so please don’t let my opinion and review keep you from listening to this story.

another dive into this amazing world

I don't know why I bother reading the negative reviews for her books. I have never read one I didn't love. This is no exception. Diving deeper into Alexander's history and seeing some of our ancients as children is delightful. I am looking forward to the next installment!

3.5 Stars 🌟

I can't believe that we are already into the 15th book in this series. Where, oh where did the time go? As a long time fan, and as a fan that has been invested for YEARS..... time honestly does fly by.

So, this book introduces us to Zanaya (Queen of the Nile) and to Archangel Alexander. Yes, we have met Alexander in the past, but I can't seem to remember ever hearing about Zanaya (but, I have been known to be clueless at certain times...so, there is that)

The book takes us DEEP into history (we are talking thousands and thousands of years....) as we get to see our two main characters in their youth as they continue to grow and mature into each of their own individual positions. Alexander - as we are told - is still thousands of years older than Zandaya, but we still are made to realize that once they get together that thousands of additional years go by.

Without going into spoilers, let's just say that these two have had quite the volatile relationship. Unfortunately, for me, this story took quite a long time to settle into it. I'm not sure if it was the LONG look back into their history, or if it was the fact that when they finally came together that they just never could seem to stop being so incredibly stubborn with each other - I'm not really sure. It just WAS NOT FUN.

Then, there were the time jumps. We start thousands of years in the past, we then do a time jump and move to the time period of the war with Lijuan, then we jump to ten years after the war. While I do not necessarily have any issues with time jumps, (and in this series, that tends to happen quite often) it never really felt fluid. Honestly...it just didn't seem to work. The main disconnect was that it felt like we were being TOLD all of these happenings instead of being able to experience them and understand them on our own.

I did enjoy the very small glimpses that we saw of Raphael - and the even smaller glimpses of Elena - (probably more than I should have) but this book really focused completely on Alexander and his situation with Zanaya. I'm not complaining about this because each book is normally about a particular couple. The problem that I did have was that I could not feel any connection between this couple. The fact that 90% of the book revolves around this volatile relationship - that REALLY becomes a problem. For those of us that have been around from the beginning, we know that usually, there are issues (a story arc) that cause the lead couple to have some type of conflict as they circle around each other and eventually give in. In addition, there is always SOMETHING going on that is scary and causes them to need the people around them to join forces to be able to fight against whatever is happening around them. In this case, yes, there was a big bad, but it never really lived up to the build up. Even there I felt let down.

I'm going to stop right there with this review. Let's just say that this book was not my favorite of the series. With that being said, I LOVE this series and have spent a lot of time, sweat and tears to consider myself invested - for the good AND the bad. Every series is allowed to have a book that is not as great as the others. You do not invest the time and effort into 15 books if the series isn't worth it...and this series is definitely worth it.

Will I continue on with the series? Well, that's a really silly quesiton.....of course I will :)

It’s just that good

It’s one of the best in the series. It felt like I read a lifetime that consisted of thousands years but the read went fast and I feel full of its warmth and complexity in a satisfying way.

Nalini doesn’t disappoint!

I loved this continuation of the series with the story of Alexander and the history of his love. Nalini always ensures that I am emotionally invested in her characters and read/listen almost nonstop to see them become who they are meant to be. I can’t wait to see how this world continues to develop!
