Alzheimer’s is a preventable disease. Less than 1 percent of cases are caused by genes. We already know how to prevent at least 8 out of 10 cases and cut your risk by at least 80 percent, if not completely, for the vast majority of people. Later in life you may lose your hair, but you never need to lose your memories. This book explains how.

It also tells you the truth about amyloid and p-tau, the targets for ineffective drugs.

What genes cause Alzheimer’s, which predict increased risk, and how to eliminate that risk.

Why Alzheimer’s will not be solved by a drug, since it is not caused by one thing but a combination of factors, different for each person, that create the "perfect storm" that leads to brain degeneration and cognitive decline.

How to assess your weakest links that drive future risk.

Exactly how to dementia-proof your diet and lifestyle.

I have read and listened to many health related books and others on the same topic. The information here was great and perhaps more actionable than Dr. Bredesen’s protocols. I appreciate the public health approach that this group takes, really focusing on the least expensive, most practical, wide reaching prevention strategies. This book does have frequent sales pitches to do their cognitive assessment and join their group. It also spends a lot of time explaining the politics around big pharma and alzheimer’s research. I understand that some understanding of these issues is helpful to explain why prevention is not more mainstream and I found it very interesting but I didn’t realize it would be such a focus of the book. This book is self published and is promoting a non-profit in the UK that is both doing research and helping people to implement these prevention strategies. While the sales pitch is a bit much I do have a lot of respect for what they are trying to do and it is refreshing to see it happening so I didn’t mind the frequent reminders to check out their cognitive assessment etc. Overall I suggest this book. The author is intelligent, to the point, and offers actionable advice. He is a great narrator of his own book and I enjoyed listening.
