Story
When fire ravages Wyoming land, fireweed is among the first plants to return, brightening a blighted area with the joy of its blooms. Small-town lawyer Taylor Anne Larsen faces the challenge of doing the same for the pain-ravaged heart and disbelieving soul of ranch foreman Cal Ruskoff. Armed with the same grace and grit as the wildflower fireweed, Taylor also has allies - a matchmaking friend, the Wyoming winter, high-octane mutual attraction, and a rescued puppy who slips past Cal's defenses.

Publisher's Summary
Wildflowers have to be strong and resilient to bloom amid the rugged beauty of Wyoming - and so do the women.
Dave Currick was everything Matty Brennan wanted for as along as she could remember. Right up until he broke her heart six years ago. Now that she's returned to Wyoming for good, what she wants more than anything is to save her family's ranch. Even if that means swallowing her pride and asking Dave to marry her.
Matty's up to something - Dave knows that much. Just as he knows that Matty needs help, so of course he'll provide it. Doing what's best for Matty is second nature. Even when it comes to marrying her in name only. Although he can't resist one hot-blooded kiss after the "I dos" - a kiss as fiery as the flame-red Indian Paintbrush that's always reminded him of Matty.
Maybe, just maybe, his Matty will become more to him than Almost a Bride.
If you enjoy stories about strong women and the men who love them, you'll love the entire Wyoming Wildflowers series.

You can go back.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. Touching love story. Mattie left for college planning to return home to marry her childhood sweetheart. That is until he told her they should see other people. Six years later she's back after the death of her uncle. She got the ranch and the financial mess it was in. After ignoring Dave she goes to him to ask for his help. Not money, but a temporary marriage...can that be turned into permanent?
Who was your favorite character and why?
Matty
What about Julia Motyka’s performance did you like?
Everything. Each character was captured, disguised from the others
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When they parted without fighting but for real.

Almost A Bride
What did you like best about this story?
I liked how even though Dave knew Maddie was up to something and wasn't being honest with him, he went along with her plans to marry in name only. He really loved her and wanted a chance to make it a real marriage. No matter what Maddie did or said he went along hoping to have a real relationship with her.
Which character – as performed by Julia Motyka – was your favorite?
Dave. He was my favorite character all around. I wasn't crazy about Maddie just because she was so up and down about her feelings and definitely led Dave on a chase.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Didn't have an extreme reaction other than frustration at times with Maddie. She just couldn't make up her mind. Couldn't seem to be honest with Dave. Just wanted only what she wanted without thinking of anyone else.
Any additional comments?
This was a good romance once the H*H figured out how they felt. I'm reading the next book in this series now and like Maddie's character much better since her and Dave are married and happy.

An Enjoyable Diversion
I read this book about a year ago and enjoyed it and the rest of the series. I have a long daily commute to work and have found that books make the time go faster. Almost A Bride is a very enjoyable diversion. Love the story and characters. The narrator has enough character in her voice that she adds to the enjoyment. Very well done!

Narrator is just awful..
Would you consider the audio edition of Almost a Bride to be better than the print version?
NO!!!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Dave
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Julia Motyka?
Anyone would be better.
Any additional comments?
I'm at 57% and I'm going to finish the book by just reading it. The narrator is terrible and I just can't listen to her any more.
