Good Listen

Solid 3.5. First, it is oddly bizarre that the thought it necessary to cut out all of the profanity considering both the movie and other novelizations are riddled with it. It helped humanize the characters and gives morseverity to the situation. It was also weridly distracting.

Once you get oast that, it eas a prety decent regurgitation of the film with some bonus background and interactions with the protagonists.

This wasn't a bad listen at all. It got me through my first quiet afternoon in a long while.

A Personal Fave,Read by Lt. Gorman no less…lol!

I have a Leof this Universe 1st of all.1st Time I saw H.R. Giger’s Brilliant Masterpiece Book of Artwork “The Necronomicon”I was blown awayIf I catch word of any Artistic Xenomorphic Endeavors in the Proverbial Pipeline. I will rabidly devour any quotes worth of scrap usually just hoping it’ll be enough to not distinguish but maybe Tamper the 5-Alarm Blaze that began Long Ago as A 5Yr. Old Child who Fell madly in Love w/Sci-Fi & Horror Film’s(I have a similar affinity for Michael Myers dat began @4or5yrs. old. I still do actually..lol!)Btw,Don’t say Your Mother must’ve been terrible or sum Crap like dat bc She’s Hr8 & didn’t allow Me 2 watch the film’s (in her presence..heh)Said She saw me Hidden behind a Slat backed Chair Watching Halloween thru said Slats! She turned it of & returned 2 the kitchen.(5min later)She came back & Halloween was Back on the Tele & 4-5yr old Sean is behind the slat back chair enthralled but obviously feeling just safe enough the Me.Myers or Giger’s Bio-Mechanical Nightmare’s Couldn’t Hirt me Through My giant Slat backed Chair!lol! Fun story that My Mum tells every prospective GF she’s ever Met.Point of my oversharing is to point out exactly how Deep It goes into the O’Bannon-Universe 4 Me. I will read&/or wtach Anything/Everything released! But Mr.Dean Foster’s books are Truly Fantastic Additions that Helped in Fleshing out the Lore of the Alien otself & the Human Animals that are as Equally Predatory as said Alien ever has been.So Mr. Fosters Novelizations are Roughly the Green-lit Shooting Script,As I said Fleshed out quite a bit more though which imo makes it better for a Human like Myself who’s Imagination is so overwhelming and not too gr8 @ shutting itself down.So the more Details about The Aliens & the Company & the relationships to the Cybernetic Science Officer whose honestly just as Shady as Any Humans that work @ Billion$ Manipu-Tech Corporations. So bottom line Great Novelization that adds something to the Stories As Well!!Plus,Lt. Gorman of The “Aliens Nest-The Lt. Freezes scene.“Apone talk to me?”William Hope is imo better doing his Multiple Variations on his Own Voice then he is in any Film I’ve seen him in,Just Great Stuff imo!! Give it a try,Do it…Do it..

Even better than the movie!

Both myself and my 10 year old son feel that it was even better than the movie. Alan's movie adaptations are always amazing as are his own novels. Great writer great narrator and amazing material to work with. It real all gets you into the characters mind and puts you there even better than the movie does. At a few points I reached out and grabbed my sons arm or leg and he flew out of his seat as he was so into the story that to him the aliens had just grabbed him. For an audiobook to do that when a movie doesn't even scare him anymore says something to the magic of the written word and the ability of the narrator to deliver it. Well done!

It's Aliens, but slightly less of an experience than the Alien novelization.

If you enjoyed Aliens, you're going to enjoy this novelization of the script. The big difference between the author's two novelization (he wrote both Alien and Aliens) is the creative liberty taken in the two books. Describing the facehugger with details from H.R. Giger's original drawing, in addition to the deleted scene involving Dallas and a different take on the Nostromo Crew dynamic, made the novelization stand out apart from its original film source more than Aliens does from its original film source. Other than slightly expanding on the main characters and the events of the film, Aliens does not achieve the success of the previous Alien novelization (but at least adds a bit more on Burke in the final chapter.) For what it's worth, Aliens is already an excellent story on it's own, just don't expect extra like with Alien's novelization.

Love the novelization & audiobook!

I love listening to this audiobook! The reader did a great job with portraying the different characters. Also the toning down of the language doesn't diminish the story--still action-packed with a good amount of thrill.

Great SCI FI Story..But...

Any additional comments?

The book stayed true to the story of the movie. However, they took a visceral tale of action and sci fi horror and did their best to make it PG. All the foul language has been removed. I'm not a fan of swearing for the sake of swearing, but the Marines were conversationally neutered. Just killed some of the story. As a former grunt myself, I can guarantee you we don't say gosh darnit when were in the middle of a fire fight. Still, great story.
