Great but for a few things

Stories are great loved them all but one of the narrators has a problem she ends every sentence like it’s a question or it’s just part of how she speaks and it throws you off. For one of the stories in the time of the pioneers it works because of the way people spoke back then and it pulls the story together. The other one she narrated however just sounds bad like she’s learning how to read while narrating. The other thing is there’s one story where a particular character mentions she’s trans but it doesn’t have any bearing on the story like you hear it and then you’re wondering how it plays into the story and then that’s it no other mention of it and you’re left wondering why it was included in the first place. Another one is the constant need to bring up black slavery and oppression in a future that is devoid of such stereotypes. For instance in one of these stories and I’m not joking this lady says something to the effect of “ I can still remember what the Underground Railroad was like for my people!” In a setting that’s beyond 2030!! That’s ridiculous there’s no living person on the face of this earth in 2022 that was alive to remember that much less 2030. Stop including black slavery as in books as if it’s still happening because it’s not and it had literally zero bearing on the story.

Good overall

Most of the stories were great. Some of the stories needlessly included "woke" social issues and that was kind of a turn off.

Disappointing

First of all, the ad for this book, is not the truth. It is not read by a full cast. Most of the stories are read by a woman with a very obnoxious lilt to her voice at the end of sentences. Her whole tone is off-putting and grated on my ears. The stories are okay. They do little to engage the reader overall.

Follow up

As I thoroughly look forward to some of the stories and enjoy this compilation, it was so nice to check in and some characters from a different book and see how they’re doing and I enjoyed that book as well.
