great story!

loved the story, though I struggled with the narration at times. luckily the story was compelling enough to convince me to suffer through the lame attempts at character voices.

Loved it!

I enjoyed this so much that before it ended I ordered two copies for each of my daughters. although I wish they could listen since the narrator did an excellent job. This one I will hear again.

Loved it!

I was a little nervous purchasing this book as quite a few of the reviews referred to it as very dark. I must say, some of chapters describe events in very graphic terms but had the author not included such detail, the story would not have had the same impact. I enjoyed the parallels between the original story and Christiana Henry's version - it is fun to listen for them. The narrator, Jenny Sterlin was great and added to the experience.

dark but very entertaining...

The story moved along smoothly, I enjoyed listening to the narrator. The distortion of the characters as not perfect, fits this world completely.

Super Fun Interpretation!

I loved this interpretation of Alice in Wonderland! The usual characters were all there with a twist to each of them.

Better than I expected

A fresh and interesting take on Alice. Be warned: it was violent and rough, in many ways. This is not a children's tale. Violence, blood, violence toward women. You don't feel any sympathy for some of the people who die. Others break your heart. Overall a good tale that I expect that I'll relisten to a few times.

Good, relatively quick read.

Enjoyable! It was hard to stop listening as I always wanted to know what happens next. It was a little bit heavy in some areas so may trigger some people but overall enjoyable if you're looking for a very different twist on a classic. Gripping

In this take on the classic, Alice’s land trades in wonder for murder, mayhem, depravity, rape and sexual sadism. Surprisingly entertaining! Not nearly as creepy as it should have been. Certainly not for the squeamish, but really quite good.

A Most Delightful Tale.....

Like most reviewers, I was surprised at the dark treatment of such a classic work.
However, it tickled the morbid side of my soul, and find it to be the most fun book I've read
in a couple years. An excellent offering !
The book took off quick, and maintained the pace throughout.
One could nit-pick a few weaknesses in the storyline, but it was more than compensated for
by the world class narration. A stellar performance by Jenny Sterlin !!!
I am elated that I took a chance on this production.
Now, off to see the Red Queen.....

On a side note....In 2000, American McGee relaesed a video game also named Alice.
The two compliment each other well.

Just Okay

I was a fan of some of Christina Henry’s other books... Lost Boy and The Mermaid, but this story really fell short for me. It started off great but just had too many characters that jumbled up the story and was hard to follow. Wasn’t the worst book but I would not recommend. The author did a fairly good job of trying to change voices for the many characters but that also was a daunting task due to the number of characters.
