Great story! Wish there were more. Wish it had been longer. Can't wait for the next one.

When "No Talent" is treated as an invitation

Larry Correia is one of my favorite authors and he demonstrates why in this story. The MC is a young adolescent who has zero magical talent yet; yearns to become a mage anyway. His quest starts where he is a lowly indentured servant miner digging for magical essence used by mages to perform spells. While he has proven to have zero magical talents, he relentlessly and recklessly attempts to perform even the lowliest of spells and ended in a destructive explosion that nearly cost him his life. Undeterred, his life was was forever changed after being attacked by some haughty elven pirates. From there he sets out to become a true mage and seek his revenge.

I enjoyed the book due to its consistent pacing and devoid of lengthy stat bane.

Garrett Michael Brown's performance was quite good.

Nice twists. He continues to produce light listening but at times engaging twists. easy recommend
