The Next Logical Step

I enjoyed this story as we pick up from where the last book left off. This book begins the last part of Wu Ying's exile as he comes full circle and finds an old friend and eventual return to his sect.

Travis Baldree adds to the enjoyement of reading the book and enhances the experience. Great job as usual.

But I do have some quibbles about the story... or perhaps how it was told. Tao Wong tells a great story and has always had a few quirks in his writing style. This time, the laast several chapters were written to be confusing... sometimes intentionally, sometimes not. While I knew what happened by the end, I had to re-read it three times to actually understand what had happened. And I still didn't feel I understood *why* some of it had happened.

There is a bonus epilogue available for print readers that helps give some insights--thanks to my sister for reading it aloud to me over the phone so now I know what readers of the print version know! This isn't the first time we audiobook readers got less than the print readers because other books have had bonus epilogues, too, and we didn't get access to those either. I'm not sure why we have to miss out on content, but I'm hoping that is rectified in the future!

Another epic combination

It is so refreshing to hear another epic story narrated by Travis Baldree. I've been waiting for this one for a while. Tao Wong and Mr Baldree do not disappoint. Let the saga continue.

There is a lot of descriptions, and not enough martial arts action.

The protagonist always seems surprised by the degree of hostility of his opponents, and always comes short on his battle plan to the point of death; even though defied, death nevertheless.
I like the story, and the narration.

My least liked installment.

I found this book extremely hard to follow at times. Maybe it would have been better to actually read the book. I'm sad to say that this is the least liked of the series. I can only hope the next installment will be better. If this had been book one, I doubt I would have followed the series.

Great addition to the series

If you got this far and liked it, this one is more of the same goodness. A bit more romance this time but I thought it was well done, a slower burn rather than the genre typical quick fling.

And the wait for book 10 begins

This was another wonderful continuation of the story, maybe not as good as book 8 but still very enjoyable.

Travis as always did an excellent job.
