Publisher's Summary

Enter the privileged world of English aristocrats, and experience the passion, intrigue, and romantic pleasures of the incomparable Malorys - a family of dashing rogues, rakehell adventurers, and spirited ladies. Now Jeremy, the son of gentleman pirate James Malory, falls in love....

When Danny, a young woman who grew up on the streets of London with no memory of her real family, is banished from her gang because she helped handsome rakehell Jeremy Malory steal back the jewels his friend lost in a card game, Danny demands that Jeremy give her a job. She is determined to become respectable in order to fulfill her dream of marrying and starting a family. Intrigued by her beauty and spunk, Jeremy hires Danny as his upstairs maid, although he wants her as his mistress.

Under the tutelage of Jeremy and his cousin Regina, Danny blossoms into a lady. Although she is drawn to Jeremy by passionate feelings she has never experienced before, she refuses to be anything more than a servant to him, because she knows he is not the marrying kind.

When Danny undergoes a Cinderella-like transformation and poses as Jeremy's new love in an attempt to help him avert a scandal, a few highly placed members of the town remark on how familiar Danny looks. Now tongues are wagging, raising the question of her true identity, which threatens not only Danny's chances of capturing Jeremy's heart but her very life.

The saga continues: listen to more romatic tales of the Malory family.

Critic Reviews

"A terrific tale about a wickedly seductive hero and a wonderfully unconventional heroine....this fairy-tale-like love story [has] a dash of danger in a successful bid to please readers who like witty and sinfully sensual Regency romances." ( Booklist0
"Laural Merlington's saucy rendition of Danny's Cockney accent meshes cleverly with her portrayal of Jeremy's deep, sensual voice. Her expert pacing transforms this novel into an all-encompassing listening experience." ( AudioFile)

Love it

Jeremy is my favorite of the Malory men, although very closely followed by James and Derek. This was an excellent book and I didn't want to stop listening. The only thing that bothered me was the way the narrator pronounced Regina's name. Just a small thing though and she did an excellent job with all the different voices.

I love love love the Malorys

I love a HEA Regency Romance... but even better is one with a mystery, a threat, humor, honesty and a full range of emotions. Keeping that standard plus some makes it a perfect novel for me.

NARRATOR : First rate!

HEAT FACTOR: Ouch!

Very enjoyable book to listen to!

I was very pleased with the purchase of this book. I looked at this book description many times, hesitant to purchase, but was not disappointed at all. It was a good story line and the narrator did a great job bringing it to life. Many times I find myself wanting to fast forward with books, to get to better parts, but never did that at all with A Loving Scoundrel.

Very entertaining

For some reason, Jeremy has appealed to me more than the rest of the Malory men and I wasn't disappointed in his story. It was maybe a little too perfect though to be believable. I also could not stand the way Regina's name was pronounced. Everytime her name was said I cringed and wondered why the narrator wasn't corrected from the start. All in all though, a very fun read.

Disappointing

I have read/listened to a few of her novels. This is terrible, the narrator is terrible makes the voices patronising and grating. But the worst part is the novel its self; trite, boring, predictable a 4th grader could do a better job. don't buy it waste of money.

My favorite Mallory story

This was the first book I read by Johanna Lindsey. It was so good 10 years ago that I immediately started reading the entire series. This particular book is reminiscent of a fairy tale that we all wish we could be in; in a romance that we all wish we could have. Both the hero and heroine exude characteristics that are so lovable and respectable that it is hard not to fall in love. I highly recommend this book just as much as I highly recommend thos series. I am rereading this series over a decade later and finding it to be just as magical as it was originally. If you are looking for a series that can take you to another world with believable characters filled with Integrity, loyalty, love, a brilliant sense of humor and desire then these are the books for you. The narration of this particular book is the best I've heard from this series so far with characters that come to life and a reading that takes you to the place that you are supposed to be... your imagination.
